The reactions of N-substituted dithiocarbamic acid esters and nickel acetate yield, by partial degradation of the esters, the polynuclear nickel thiolato complexes cyclo-[(μ-SMe)2Ni]6, 1 and [(μ-SMe)2(Ni(MeNHCS2))2, 2. Their crystal structures have been determined. The Ni coordination spheres are comprised of four sulfur atoms in a planar arrangement. 1 is a second, highly symmetrical modification of the already known cyclic hexamer Ni6(SMe)12. In 2 two Ni(PhNHCS2) moieties are bridged to dimers by thiolato groups. Two of these dimers are connected to a tetramer by weak axial Ni-S interactions. Crystal data for 1: monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 986.1(2), b = 1308.1(3), c = 1228.6(2) pm, β = 96.07(3)°, Z = 2, R = 0.072, Rw = 0.062, 3797 reflections. 2: orthorhombic, space group Pnma, a = 1790.0(4), b = 1806.7(4), c = 934.4(2) pm. Z = 4, R = 0.061, Rw = 0.051, 2079 reflections

AbstractHighly (100) oriented Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 [PZT] films were fabricated using lanthanum nitrate/nickel acetate double layers as a buffer layer, regardless of the other deposition conditions, such as the pyrolysis temperature, pyrolysis time, annealing temperature, and heating rate. The buffer layer was also acted as a very effective barrier against Pb-Si interdiffusion, thus allowing for the direct deposition of PZT films on Si, SiO2/Si, and glass substrates. The strong orientation was attributed to the formation of a crystalline intermediate phase between the PZT and lanthanum nitrate during annealing. The lanthanum nitrate/nickel acetate double layers became a lanthanum nickel oxide (LaNiO3), which shows good electrical conductivity, after an annealing process at 650°C. The nature and the role of lanthanum nitrate buffer as a layer for the growth of highly (100) oriented PZT films have been studied. The dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric and electrooptic properties of the highly (100) oriented PZT films with a lanthanum nitrate/nickel acetate buffer layer were measured and compared with the values measured from the (111) and (100) oriented PZT films deposited without buffer layer.

Abstract Upon reaction of HL1 1 (picoline-tetrazolylamide) with cobalt(II) acetate under aerobic conditions or with copper(II) acetate, the mono-nuclear complex [CoIII(L1)3] 3 and the di-nuclear complex [Cu2(L1)4] 4 were generated. In 3 and 4, (L1)− exclusively coordinates across its nitrogen donors. However, when HL2 5 (picoline-tetrazolylthioamide) was reacted with copper- or nickel acetate, the di-nuclear cluster [Cu2(L2)4] 6 and the tetra-nuclear cluster [Ni4(L2)8] 7, respectively, were isolated. Contrary to 3 and 4, in 6 and 7, (L2)− also coordinates across sulfur.

Sealing as a post treatment of anodized aluminum is required to enhance the corrosion resistance by filling nanopores, which allow the penetration of corrosive media toward the base aluminum. We designed a mixed sealing solution with nickel acetate and ammonium fluoride by modifying traditional nickel fluoride cold sealing. The concentration of mixed sealing solution affected the reaction rate of sealing and corrosion current density of anodized aluminum alloy. The higher concentration of mixed sealing solution improved the sealing rate, which was represented by a decrease of corrosion current density of anodized aluminum alloy. However, a mixed sealing solution with 2/3 concentration of general nickel fluoride sealing solution operated at room temperature showed the lowest corrosion current density compared to traditional methods (e.g., nickel fluoride cold sealing (NFCS) and nickel acetate hot sealing) and other mixed sealing solutions. Moreover, the mixed sealing solution with 2/3 concentration of general NFCS had a lower risk for over sealing, which increases the corrosion current density by excessive dissolution of anodic oxide. Therefore, the mixed sealing solution with optimized conditions designed in this work possibly provides a new method for enhancing the corrosion resistance of anodized aluminum alloys.
