Although laryngeal stenosis caused by cicatricial pemphigoid (CP) is a well documented entity, reports about its surgical treatment are scant. This may be due to the reluctance of the surgeons to excise the scarring, knowing the recurrent nature of the disease. In this paper we report a case of severe laryngeal stenosis caused by CP which necessitated a tracheostomy. When the disease had stabilized, laryngeal airway was restored following open surgical excision and stenting. The historic, clinical, histologic, immunopathologic and therapeutic features of CP are presented with special reference to the laryngeal lesions.

Tumors of cartilage rarely occur in the larynx. Most laryngologists see no more than one of these tumors. Therefore, information about the general knowledge, early diagnosis, and surgical treatment of these tumors accumulates slowly. In this paper we will discuss one type of cartilaginous tumor: chondrosarcoma of the cricoid cartilage. We will review general diagnostic information about this tumor, present a case report, and describe a method of conservative surgical excision.

Residual cyst is an inflammatory odontogenic cyst resultant from pulp necrosis, where the tooth has already been removed. Bisphosphonates are drugs used in the prevention and treatment of bone metabolism diseases with intense resorption activity, and they have been associated with osteonecrosis of the jaws, an important side effect. The aim of this study was to report a successful surgical treatment of a residual cyst in a patient who had previously developed jaw osteonecrosis associated with sodium alendronate use. We emphasize here the importance of safe preoperative procedures when approaching these patients.

The authors present a surgical technique for the preservation and repair of an acutely fractured sesamoid using internal fixation of the sesamoid. A case report demonstrating the technique for the open reduction and internal fixation of a fractured tibial sesamoid is presented. The authors recommend this procedure as a viable alternative to surgical excision of the tibial sesamoid. The use of the procedure as an adjunct for the surgical treatment of recalcitrant traumatic sesamoiditis is also discussed. (J Am Podiatr Med Assoc 91(10): 536-539, 2001)

Usually benign laryngeal lesions like cysts, polyps and fibrous masses occurs in result of phonotrauma as reactive changes of the mucous of vocal cords. Presence of organic pathology of larynx is a reason of functional voice disorders. 45 patients in age of 18-70 y.o. with benign laryngeal lesions were investigated. All patients underwent microlaryngoscopy with excision of the lesion in inpatient mode. This article describes complex of pre- and postoperative procedures performed to assess the vocal function in patients. For the surgical excision of lesions «cold-steel» instruments, radiofrequently ablation and laser surgery were used. Authors analysed the correlation between complaints, acoustic voice parameters and the process of mucous recovery. Laser technique is recommended for surgical treatment of benign lesions of larynx. Fibrolaryngoscopy, laryngostroboscopy and computer acoustic assessment of vocal parameters are required before voice normalization. Phonotherapy is indicated n case of persistence of dysphonia.

The topic of this case report is a rare subconjuctival osseous choristoma that corresponded to the left lateral sunconjunctiva and canthus. A 20-year-old man was asymptomatic when he arrived for the examination. His full ophthalmic examination was normal. Orbital computerized tomography was concordant with osseous lesion. Osseous choristomas are the rarest forms of ocular choristomas, they are usually being defined as sporadic, and they are found at the superior temporal region of the episclera. In our case, choristoma was in the lateral canthus of the left eye. We had administered surgical excision by reason of the patient’s cosmetic requirement. We had noted that the lesion was adherent to conjunctiva but not to the sclera and the muscles. After surgical treatment, we saw mature heterotrophic osseous tissue in subconjunctival area and Haversian canals in compact bone tissue.

Summary Backround/Aim: The present paper focuses on examining a case report of an oral lipoma located at the left lower vestibule. Case report: The patient’s clinical state was thoroughly studied, along with the findings of histopathological examinations. The surgical treatment and postoperative course are also within the scope of this report. Numerous histogenesis theories and the appropriate tumor treatment are mentioned within the article, being always in accordance with the relative literature. Conclusions: Oral lipoma is a benign not very rare neoplasm, which occurs most commonly in adult males. The surgical excision is the treatment of choice. The diagnosis must always be established by histological examination.

Cavernous hemangiomas are benign tumours of mesodermal origin. Even though various localizations of hemangioma have been described in the literature, its occurrence in the greater omentum is very rare. Only symptomatic hemangiomas are indicated for surgical treatment. There are case reports presenting resection or surgical removal of the greater omentum with hemangioma because of mechanical syndrome, consumption coagulopathy, bleeding, infection or suspicion of a malignancy. This article presents a case report of a patient operated on for a suspicion of carcinomatosis of the greater omentum. Histological examination found hemangiomatosis in the resected greater omentum.
