Exploring the impacts of national image, service quality, and perceived value on international tourist behaviors: A Nepali case

The dominant paradigm on tourist behaviors depicts a sequential relationship among image, quality, satisfaction, and post-purchase behavior while the alternative view argues that consumer behaviors are better understood through perceived value. Using Nepal as a case, we tested a synthetic model of tourist behaviors and applied the Fombrun-RI Country Reputation Index (CRI) that was developed in the field of nation branding to measure destination image, an elusive concept in tourism literature since long. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) shows that the data largely supported the model, and national image has impacts on tourist behaviors. However, service quality is not a significant predictor of tourist behaviors. This corroborates the argument that perceived value is a better way to analyze tourist behaviors. The research has practical implications for nation branding programs in the less-developed nations.

Purpose This study aims to present and empirically examines an expanded service model that incorporates green hotel practices together with a multidimensional/higher-order measurement model of service quality, as well as perceived value and satisfaction, to examine the relationships among these variables and hotel consumers’ loyalty/behavioral intentions (BI). Design/methodology/approach The model was examined using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using data gathered in August 2018 from 200 surveys completed by UK subjects who stayed at upscale European hotels. Findings The results of PLS-SEM found that hotel service quality has a direct and positive effect on perceived value, satisfaction and BI. There is also an indirect effect of service quality on BI through perceived value and satisfaction, while green practices only had a direct effect on perceived value, not satisfaction or BI. Research limitations/implications This study offers new insights into the network of causal relationships among determinants of hotel consumers’ BI. The results offer hotel operators a better understanding of specific green practices and service quality attributes they can use to more favorably influence consumers’ intentions to revisit the property and recommend them through positive word-of-mouth. Originality/value This research is particularly relevant in today’s reality characterized by travelers’ growing concern for green issues and business’ responsibilities toward the environment. Moreover, unlike previous studies, this study assumes a multidimensional scheme for service quality, further enhancing the understanding of hotel consumers’ BI relationships.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationships among destination image, perceived quality, perceived value, satisfaction and revisit intention of sport tourism in Iran. Design/methodology/approach – Statistical population of this research consisted of those tourists who traveled to Mazandaran province in Iran as a sport tourism destination in 2012. A random sample of 1,250 tourists was asked to respond to questionnaires from which 886 accurate questionnaires were used for analysing data. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to explore the relationships among the research variables. Findings – The results showed that sport tourists’ perception of destination image, perceived quality and perceived value influenced their satisfaction and revisit intention positively. Originality/value – The results of this research help to better understand the behavioral intentions, which can be an acceptable basis to increase sport tourists’ visit and revisit of a sport destination.

This paper wants to examine the relationship of service quality, perceived value, satisfaction and loyalty with religious tourists who visit the island of Madura in 2015. The structural equation modeling results support the hypothesis that service quality affects directly the satisfaction and loyalty, and satisfaction directly affects loyalty, but the results do not support the hypothesis that the perceived value directly affects the satisfaction and perceived value directly affects loyalty. Quality of service only has direct and indirect influence on loyalty through satisfaction. So the stage of tourism development in Madura, quality of service is very important in building loyalty and satisfaction tourists

Madura is one of the sharia tourist attractions in Indonesia, so many local and foreign tourists come to Madura Island to carry out sharia tours by visiting Islamic places such as mosques, tombs of the great Madurese clerics, and halal culinary places. In the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic which has been going on for one year, government policy has closed these sharia tourist spots. However, since the number of Covid 19 cases, especially on Madura Island, has decreased significantly, the government has allowed opening these sharia tourist spots with the provisions of health protocols. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between service quality, destination image, and customer satisfaction on the revisit intention of tourists to tour destination religious in Madura. Data were collected from a questionnaire survey and empirical studies were conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the hypotheses, as well as the structural relationships between these factors. The results of empirical studies confirm that service quality and destination image make a positive contribution to tourist satisfaction, then that the service quality contribute to the revisit intention, but the destination image does not contribute to the revisit intention, and tourist satisfaction contributes positively to the revisit intention. Furthermore, this study also contributes to the managers of sharia tourist destinations in Madura to analyze the relationship between service quality attributes and destination image to revisit intention by improving the services provided, thereby contributing to increasing the number of tourists, and implementing sustainable service quality policies.

La lealtad del cliente es uno de los mayores desafíos para la industria de las aerolíneas. Por eso, los profesionales de marketing están buscando información sobre cómo desarrollar la lealtad del cliente. Este estudio explorará la relación entre la calidad del servicio, la satisfacción del cliente, el valor percibido y la lealtad del cliente en la industria aérea. El propósito de este estudio es desarrollar e implementar un método para que la aerolínea identifique atributos que aumentarán la lealtad del cliente. Unos 384 encuestados participan en este estudio y los cuestionarios se distribuyeron al azar entre los pasajeros que viajaban en Fly Emirates. En particular, un enfoque deductivo adaptado para recopilar información cuantitativa específica para aceptar o rechazar la hipótesis. El estudio actual aplica el modelo de ecuación estructural SEM-PLS para investigar la relación entre los constructos en el modelo propuesto. Este estudio encontró que la calidad del servicio tiene una relación positiva en la satisfacción de los pasajeros y la lealtad del cliente. Por otro lado tiene una relación negativa en el valor percibido y la lealtad del cliente. Los resultados de este estudio indicaron que la calidad del servicio y la satisfacción del pasajero son factores importantes que afectan a la lealtad del cliente. En conclusión, Fly Emirates debe ser capaz de comprender la importancia de la calidad del servicio y la satisfacción del pasajero para cumplir con la lealtad del cliente y mejorar la calidad del servicio que es más importante en la industria de las aerolíneas. Client loyalty is one of the biggest challenges for the airline industry and marketers are seeking information on how to build client loyalty. This study will explore the relationship between service quality, client satisfaction, perceived value and client loyalty in the airline industry. The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a method for airline to identify attributes that will increase client loyalty. 384 respondents participate in this study and questionnaires were distributed randomly to passengers traveling by Emirates. In particularly a deductive approach adapted to collect specific quantitative information to accept or reject the hypothesis. Current study applies Structural Equation Modeling SEM-PLS to investigate the relationship among the constructs in proposed model. This study found that service quality has appositive relationship on passengers’ satisfaction and client loyalty and negative relationship on perceived value and client loyalty. The results of this study indicated that service quality and passenger's satisfaction are important factors effect of client loyalty. In conclusion Emirates must be able to understand the importance of service quality and passenger's satisfaction to fulfill the client loyalty and improve the service quality that make most significant in airline industry.

Abstract This study is aimed at investigating the direct relationships between service quality dimensions with perceived value and the destination loyalty, in addition to examining the mediating effect of perceived value. Using data from 508 international tourists visiting UAE and applying structural equation modeling we found the following. First, we found a significant and positive relationship between the five dimensions of service quality and perceived value. Second, we found direct, a positive and significant relationship between four service quality dimensions and destination loyalty. In addition, there exists a mediating effect of perceived value on the relationship between all the dimension of service quality and destination loyalty. The relationships of all the service quality dimensions are partially mediated except tangible facilities dimension which is fully mediated by perceived value. The study recommended that destination managers should focus on what make the tourists feel that the value they received is equal or more than what they expected to create positive tourist loyalty behaviour and enhance destination attractiveness. Thus, high level of perceived value service quality provided can be achieved if government and managers fully understand the key importance of providing quality service and continues evaluating and enhancing the quality of service provided. This paper explores the behavior model of urban forest recreationists and provides an analysis on the relationships between the constructs of destination image, recreation benefits, perceived value and behavioral intentions. Statistic materials suggest that the four principal components of destination image construct are accessibility, attractiveness, brand and amenities, while the major factors of recreation benefits include functional, social and emotional benefits. Structural equation modeling (SEM) technique being applied, the results indicate that destination image has both direct and indirect effects on the behavioral intentions, and the recreation benefits influences the behavioral intentions through perceived value as a moderating variable. In addition, the relationship path of destination image recreation benefits perceived value behavioral intentions has been proved evident in this study.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the applicability of electronic service quality instrument, E-S-QUAL, in e-commerce industry in India. Additionally, the efficacy of the instrument is also examined for two sub-groups of users based on frequency of usage. Design/methodology/approach Field research was conducted with a modified version of the instrument. The data collected were analyzed using multivariate techniques. Findings The study confirms the validity of the four dimensions (efficiency, fulfillment, system availability, and privacy) of E-S-QUAL instrument. All four dimensions were found to be significant predictors of perceived value. Efficiency and fulfillment were significant predictors of overall perceived quality. Perceived value had a positive and significant relationship with loyalty. The two relationships were further examined for two sub-groups of web users based on the frequency of usage. For heavy users of websites, all four dimensions were significant predictors of perceived value. For predicting perceived value in respect of light users of website, efficiency, fulfillment, and privacy were important determinants. The relationships among latent constructs were checked using structural equation modeling and the model was found to be acceptable. The result showed that electronic service quality affected perceived value, which, in turn, affected loyalty toward a website. Originality/value This paper makes an attempt to replicate the four dimensions structure of E-S-QUAL instrument on online shopping sites in India thus enhancing its external generalizability. Additionally, the paper investigates the association of the four aforesaid dimensions with perceived value and overall perceived quality for two sub-groups of users: frequent and non-frequent. The cornerstone of this particular study is to examine the frequency of usage as deterministic parameter for perceived value and overall perceived quality.

Future trends in customers’ postpurchasing habits and the identification of the structures that affect the formation of these trends are key determinants of long-term financial performance and competitive advantage for businesses. In the field of marketing, service quality, perceived value and customer satisfaction, and the relationship between these structures are the main factors for the determination of customer loyalty. However, empirical findings have proven to be inadequate in revealing relationships between related structures in low- and high-involvement levels of consumer groups. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the moderating effect of involvement in the relationship between the behavioral intentions of members of a sports-fitness center and their antecedents. For the research, face-to-face questionnaires were administered to 842 subjects who had been selected by convenience sampling performed at sports and fitness centers operating in Istanbul, and the collected data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique. Our results showed that there were differences in the effects of service quality, perceived value, and customer satisfaction on behavioral intentions among consumer groups in terms of low- or high-involvement levels. This article discussed the theoretical and managerial effects of the obtained results.
