Abstract. Background: Tensions exist with various stakeholders facing competing interests in providing legal land-based and online regulated gambling products. Threats to revenue/taxation occur in response to harm minimisation and responsible gambling policies. Setting aside the concept of total prohibition, the objectives of responsible gambling are to encourage and/or restrict an individual’s gambling expenditure in terms of money and time to personally affordable limits. Stakeholder responsibilities: Governments craft the gambling environment through legislation, monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, and receive taxation revenue as a proportion of expenditure. Industry operators on the other hand, compete across market sectors through marketing and advertising, and through the development of commercially innovative products, reaping substantial financial rewards. Concurrently, governments are driven to respond to community pressures to minimize the range of negative gambling-related social, personal and economic harms and costs. Industry operators are exposed to the same pressures but additionally overlaid with the self-interest of avoiding the imposition of more stringent restrictive policies. Cooperation of stakeholders: The resulting tension between taxation revenue and profit making, harm minimization, and social impacts creates a climate of conflict between all involved parties. Data-driven policies become compromised by unsubstantiated claims of, and counter claims against, the nature and extent of gambling-related harms, effectiveness of policy strategies, with allegations of bias and influence associated with researchers supported by industry and government research funding sources. Conclusion: To effectively advance policies, it is argued that it is imperative that all parties collaborate in a cooperative manner to achieve the objectives of responsible gambling and harm minimization. This extends to and includes more transparent funding for researchers from both government and industry. Continued reliance on data collected from analogue populations or volunteers participating in simulated gambling tasks will not provide data capable of valid and reliable extrapolation to real gamblers in real venues risking their own funds. Failure to adhere to principles of corporate responsibility and consumer protection by both governments and industry will challenge the social licence to offer gambling products. Appropriate and transparent safeguards learnt from the tobacco and alcohol field, it is argued, can guide the conduct of gambling research.

Small-sided games are used to improve tactical-technical and physical performances in team sports. This study compared the physical, physiological, and tactical-technical responses during 3 versus 3 basketball small-sided games performed in full and half-court: numerical equality (3 vs. 3), numerical superiority (4 vs. 3), and with a non-scorer floater (3 vs. 3  +  1). A total of 45 U-14 and U-15 male athletes participated in the study. They were divided into three-player teams and played one 4-minute bout of each small-sided game type. Heart rate and the time spent in four acceleration zones (0.0–0.5, 0.5–1.0, 1.0–1.5, and 1.5–2.0 g) were recorded using heart rate monitors and triaxial accelerometers. Small-sided games were filmed for the analysis of tactical-technical behavior. Results showed a higher frequency of space creation without the ball, and a mean number of passes per offense in the formats 4 versus 3 and 3 versus 3  +  1, and a lower frequency of space creation with the ball dribbled in 3 versus 3  +  1 compared with 3 versus 3. Physical and physiological responses were higher in the full-court regardless of format and in numerical equality regardless of court area; only the time spent in the highest acceleration zone was higher in half-court small-sided games. We concluded that additional players increase group tactical actions and decrease physical and physiological responses in 3 versus 3 basketball small-sided games.

The article considers a calendar-song tradition of Middle Shchara – an ethnocultural area, located at the crossborder region of the Western and Central Polesye, Belarusian Ponemon’e and Central Belarus. Ethnomusicological field research recordings of the Belarusian State Academy of Music to Lyahovichskij (1982 – headed by V. Soltan, 1993 – headed by L. Kostyukovets), Ivatsevichi (2004 – head by T. Berkowitz), Baranovichi (2015 – headed by L. Barankiewicz) districts, Brest region, were mainly used for typological research. The correspondence were found in the winter repertoire of Middle Shchara between the existence of the old Kaliada tunes as well as clearly defined Kaliada game type “Goat” tunes. Notably children's round dance-games are used as Kaliada (Christmas) and Spring games. Valachobny tunes were used not only as a part of Vyalikdzien (Easter) greetings but also as general Spring and St. George's tunes. The existence of special “Yurovy” (St. George?s Day) round dance tune were discovered in the Middle Shchara locus. The special unique performing manner of local midsummer (Kupala) tunes were elaborated. The notable tinge of style of this region are Stippling fixations and variety of reaping tunes with interweaving manifestations song styles of Polesye and Ponemon’e. The Middle Shchara autumn repertoire, is elaborated as of notable accordance to the time of harvesting of flax songs of love or family domestic subjects. Peculiarities of the calendar-song tradition of Middle Shchara described as pertaining of the ethnoregional borderland, which is manifested in combination of attributes not only of Polesye (Western, Central and even the East) and Ponemon’e, but also the Central Belarusian song areals.

According to the super large or heavy vehicle accidents existing wrecker cannot complete the wrecker rescue mission independent problems, puts forward the design of a practical game type crane wrecker. The hoisting mechanism as the research object, the traditional mechanical method is designed and calculated, then the three-dimensional entity model using 3D mechanical design software Solidworks, and imported into the finite element analysis software ANSYS to analyze the static mechanics characteristics of the structure, to improve the local strength of short position. On this basis, a lifting test vehicle prototype, rated load operation and overload operation condition test, and measure its subsidence. With the analysis of the experiment results, show that the design truck lifting organ can meet the demand of the technology.

In this short chapter we present a case study of the use of ANN in a video game type situation. The example is one of duelling robots, a problem which, as we will see, lends itself to a range of different solutions – and where we can demonstrate the efficacy of a biologically inspired AI approach.

During the last years, our group has worked on real-time formulations for the dynamics of multi-body systems. Now, in order to find out whether such methods are suitable to address real industrial problems, we intend to develop control algorithms for a car on its computer model (virtual prototyping), and evaluate the performance of such controllers when implemented on the corresponding physical prototype. This paper addresses the first part of the work. Two maneuvers are to be considered: straight line and obstacle avoidance. The computer model of the car has been coded in Fortran language. Fuzzy logic has been chosen to design the control algorithms, which have been implemented on the Matlab environment. Several alternatives to connect Fortran and Matlab-based functions have been studied, concluding that the most appropriate election depends on the purpose being pursued: controller tuning or onboard use of an already tuned controller. Simulator capabilities have been given to the program by means of a realistic graphical output and game-type driving peripherals (steering wheel and pedals), so that comparison may be established between human and designed automatic control.

The aim of this study was to identify regional differences based on playing position in terms of the technical performances among FIBA Female Continental Basketball Championships by controlling the influence of situational variables including the game outcome, game type, teams and opponent quality. The samples comprised of 9208 performance records from 471 games in the America, Africa, Asia and Europe Championships during 2013–2017 and were collected and analyzed by generalized mixed linear modeling. Our study highlighted that, although positional differences were clear among different continental championships, it is worth noting that African guards, forwards, and centers made more turnovers (TOV) compared with the corresponding positional players from other continental championships. In addition, European guards presented the lowest number of steals (STL) compared with African (ES = 0.28), Asian (ES = 0.21), and American guards (ES = 0.24). The results provide coaches to have a better understanding of game-play styles among FIBA Female Continental Basketball Competitions, which could optimize the development of female basketball and the selection and recruitment of female players at the international level.
