The aim of the study was to define whether changes in psychophysical performance will occur after the exposure to light of a specific color during the early afternoon decrease in work capacity. The evaluation of psychophysical performance was carried out on a group of 50 subjects using the following tools: Grandjean Scale, Attention and Perceptiveness Test (TUS), and GONOGO test. The study was performed for exposure to reference light, white light enriched by blue light (WBL), and white light enriched by red light (WRL). The analysis of psychophysical performance results indicates the positive influence of a specific color of light on different factors of psychophysical performance. Exposure to WRL among participants from the 22–34 subgroup contributed to an increase in the number of correct tests and the speed of work as well as a decrease in the number of mistakes, less boredom, and higher performance. The exposure to WBL among participants from the 55+ subgroup decreased the number of mistakes and reduced the response time. The results are consistent with the outcomes of previous research carried out on an international level, confirming that blue and red light are effective at increasing psychophysical performance. It was demonstrated that the psychophysical performance increases also when blue or red light is a significant component in the spectrum of white light.

Within an ever-changing, digitalized world, the working methods have vastly changed over the last few decades. If the effects of a contemporary event such as COVID-19—the global pandemic started in the Hubei region of China at the end of December 2019—are considered, the changes have reached beyond just the practical logistics of working and crossed otherwise untouched social and emotional barriers. As a result of the pandemic, new working ways on an international level have become considerably more prominent. With the post-modern paradigm, organizations have focused on their employees and see them as stakeholders and developed a set of policies and standards under the guise of “an employee-friendly organization.” This chapter sheds light on strategies on how to maintain work-life balance in a virtual environment of remote work, new regulations, and the gaining importance of employee satisfaction, ensuring remote employees feel cared for, valued, and included.

Design thinking in the human resources area is still a recent issue little known and exploited even at an international level. It has only recently begun to be worked on and shared by organizations, and it is pointed out as being one of the most important competences of the 21st century. It refers to a style of thinking that combines the senses with the context of a problem, creativity in the creation of new points of view, and solutions and rationality in the analysis and search for solutions to the context. The present research used the Employee Experience DT Model, applied on a multinational company and developed within three long sessions of brainstorming and brainwriting. The main conclusions outlined that DT stimulates the process of continuous improvement, reinforces teamwork, as well as creativity and effort in solving problems. Furthermore, it sensitizes the administration for the current existing problems, compromising it in their resolution, and working in partnership with its stakeholders.

The institutes working to eradicate global poverty by supporting development projects should question their methodological approach. Global poverty figures are worrisome and International institutes are struggling to arrange funds for their activities. It is time to reevaluate the term “sustainable growth”, and more focus should be given to “comparable growth”, under it project outcomes are measured against the provincial values, than after best national figures and lastly with international best. The approach is to find measurable standards to establish the existing gap between the best benefits and project outcomes. Sustainable and poverty eradicating growth is only possible if outcomes are competitive locally, regionally, nationally and at international level. The paper studies Chhattisgarh Irrigation Development Project (CIDP) and evaluates its results for methodological improvement, the emphasis is to devise a practical approach and focus on comparable growth and address shortcomings of development projects in general.

The authors deal with the unprecedented effects of COVID-19 on the air transport sector and the reactions of selected segments to this situation. Air transport is a global industry, and this situation needs to be addressed through cooperation at an international level. The authors focus on the airport and airline sector, which, due to the nature of their business, chooses a different strategy. Despite the need for international cooperation, there are also efforts to use the crisis situation for its own expansion into vacant market segments, especially by selected low-cost air carriers. The strategic starting points of international organizations for individual sectors are given as well as examples of selected airport entities and airlines. The chapter is complemented by a common approach of airports and air carriers, which could significantly affect the cost of air transport, especially in the EU.

The purpose of this paper is to give a strategic overview of the existing standards governing the construction and operation of hydrogen refueling stations. A succinct and comprehensive study of hydrogen refueling station standards globally, in Europe, and in Italy is conducted and discussed in light of the new European Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap. Among the numerous topics examined, a particular emphasis is placed on the standards in force for on-site hydrogen production via water electrolysis, hydrogen storage, both liquid and gaseous, and refueling protocols for light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, on an international level through the provision of ISO, IEC, and SAE standards; on a European level through the examination of the CEN/CENELEC database; and on an Italian national level through the analysis of the UNI database.

Abstract: Statistics has always been an integral part of the sporting world. Selectors pick players based on numerous factors such as averages, strike-rates, runs scored or goals scored. Teams have exclusive ‘talent hunters’, who spend weeks, if not months, trying to uncover talent from different parts of the world. With the rise of this new niche field called Sports Analytics, teams can now perform player evaluations on tons of data that is available. This paper aims to examine the factors that truly indicate the capacity of cricket players to perform at the top-most level – international cricket. Though this research has been carried out on cricket data, it is hoped that similar methods can be used to hunt for true talent in other sports! Keywords: Cricket Analytics, Random Forest, Principal Component Analysis, Dimensionality Reduction.
