Between 1933 and the end of World War II, Argentina became the home of some 43,000 Jewish refugees from Nazism, almost all of them of German, Austrian, or West European origin. Measured against the country's total population, 13 million in 1931, 16 million according to the 1947 census, Argentina received more Jewish refugees per capita than any other country in the world except Palestine (Wasserstein, 1979: 7,45). This did not occur by design of the Argentine government; on the contrary, its immigration policies became interestingly restrictive as the years of the world crisis wore on.In practice, however, Argentina was unable to patrol effectively its long borders with the neighboring republics of Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Uruguay. The overseas consuls of these nations, especially the first three, did a brisk and lucrative trade in visas and entry permits for persons desperate to escape the Nazi terror.

From 2008´s to 2010’s a serious financial crisis forced many sectors to drastically review their production and sales plans. Sectors like the chemical industry were reorganized to deal with the challenging scenario found. The presence of Business Intelligence architecture does not mean that the organization really enjoys the best that this architecture brings. The push of Business Intelligence architecture usage was very important during this critical crisis moment to help on process standardization, data quality improvement and process automation. This article's objective is to demonstrate how the world crisis of 2008, 2009 and 2010 was a great opportunity to improve the usage of business intelligence architecture bringing benefits for a Brazilian chemistry industry.

ABSTRACT: This article discusses the transformations of Hering, since its origins until the first decade of 2000’s. During this period, it’s very important to analyze the post-1960, when a world crisis breaks out, even though its effects in Brazil only had occurred during the 1980’s, with enormous impact in the textile industry in the 1990’s. During this decade, there was the opening of the Brazilian economy, conducted by a neoliberal agenda. Studying a special case, this article debates the most important changes in the world capitalism in recent years particularly related to financialization and the searching of new spaces for accumulation by a great corporation like Hering.
