GAMIFICATION AS A DIDACTIC STRATEGY IN THE TEACHING OF FIRST GRADE STUDENTS IN BASIC EDUCATION ABSTRACT Currently, technologies have gained ground in the social, family, professional, and pedagogical fields. Because of its importance and contribution in the development of science, it is essential to consider strategies that involve the use of technologies, which are at the forefront of the demands that education and students today, known as digital natives require, however, these resources are not properly applied in classrooms. The objective of this study was to design a gamified motivation experience in the teaching-learning process, through an innovation proposal launched with a sample of twenty-five first-grade children, through the application of technological resources such as tablets, laptop, projector and internet; “Class Dojo” and “Lucas Logic Series” mobile applications to work the mathematical logical field, carried out in three class sessions (start, development and application). The methodology was based on a qualitative paradigm, which addressed categories such as: gamification and its elements, gamified evaluation and motivational processes; supported by observation and interview techniques. Once the sessions were executed, students were evaluated with a rubric designed for this purpose. The results achieved showed that 84% of the children were able to meet the objectives proposed in the tasks performed, developed mathematical logical skills through problem solving. This research allows the teacher to be encouraged to incorporate technological tools into curriculum planning, since students live immersed in a digital society. KEYWORDS: Gamification; information and communication technologies; creativity; motivation; teaching-learning.

The introduction and use of information and communication technologies have been a recurrent topic of debate, as these technologies have become attached to the lives of more than half of the world's population. However, the use of technology in the education sector does not occur automatically, one of the references to guide the processes of its introduction have been the policies dictated by the governments, where actions, strategies, objectives, and goals are reflected, this allows us to identify a way forward by defining a more tangible and in some cases, prospective route. Based on the above, the objective of this work was to determine which have been the main guidelines that have marked the course of ICT in education in Mexico, and their reflection in specific actions. For this purpose, a qualitative research process was carried out with a systematic review on the internet and a documentary analysis, with the review of national education programs, and various documents on the main ICT programs of the last 30 years. Recurring axes were identified in each period, as well as lags and lack of continuity from one program to another. The importance that educational policies have had to direct the course of the use of ICT in basic education in Mexico is recognized, but also the gaps and shortcomings that have arisen in each six-year period.

This chapter analyzes the capacity of social media usage and the social media strategies of political parties that became the members of Turkish Parliament after 2011 election. The social media usage increases in parallel to the improvements in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and it becomes an important tool with its communicative functions to realize activities in social, political, and economic fields. In the globalization process, developments in ICTs and changes in the meaning of democracy have been realized parallel to each other. Politics has become more open to interaction and the participation of different actors. ICTs have created new opportunities to interaction and participation of social actors. These improvements require transformations in the role and functions of political parties. They have to arrange their programs and structures according to participative understanding of democracy and new technologies. Social media usage is seen as a requirement for political parties and party leaders for adaptation to these developments, and it is also seen as a device with its potential for realizing participation, communication, and interaction to adapt to the changes in the understanding of politics.

With the advent of innovative technologies and multi-dimensional researches along the setting of entrepreneurship development, philosophy, context and business handling has been transformed from being traditional to innovative. Depending on diversity and nature of the transformation, innovation has been shifted from closed to open to crowdsourcing innovation. Ranging from small entrepreneurs to corporate business houses are being immensely benefited by the innovation techniques, especially utilizing information and communication technologies. However, the road to innovation, despite being a paradigm shift is not smooth and ready for many, particularly the small and medium enterprises who mainly deal with the clients at the outer peripheries of the social circle. This chapter synthesizes issues of opportunities and challenges for small and medium enterprises by carrying out a broad literature review and synthesis. Furthermore, the chapter will provide a few research hints to be applicable for researchers and research institutions.

The formulation of Charts for research ethics and Codes of conduct has been growing in the last few decades, on the one hand due to a renewed awareness of the ethical dimensions of research governance and the relationship between regulators and researchers, and on the other hand for the expansion of possibilities achieved by innovation in information and communication technologies. The voluntary involvement of research participants, risk management and prevention, data protection, community engagement, reflexivity of researchers are some of the centres of gravity of a debate that involves researchers, institutions, and citizens.

The present chapter provides a conceptual framework for the newest digital communication tools and for the practices they encourage, stressing the communication opportunities they offer and the limitations they impose. In this chapter, Internetbased communication technologies are regarded as the most recent step in the development of communication technologies. This approach helps have a broad perspective on the changes information and communication technologies (ICT) are bringing along in the social practices of so called knowledge society. As a matter of fact, these changes need to be considered within an “ecological” approach, that is, an approach that provides a very wide overview on the whole context (both in synchronic terms and in diachronic ones) where ICT are spreading. In the second part of the chapter, the authors present two examples of relevant social practices that are challenged by the most recent ICT, namely journalism (news market) and Internet search engines.

This paper considers how to reduce corruption and improve governance, with particular attention to the impacts of information and communication technology. The media and the press in particular have played an important role in opposing corruption. The Internet and related tools are both supplementing and supplanting the traditional roles of the press in opposing corruption. A regression model with a sample of 164 countries demonstrates that, controlling for the independent variables commonly employed in empirical work on corruption, greater access to the Internet explains reduced corruption. The effect is statistically significant albeit modest. It is possible that the social media will have a growing impact on reducing corruption and improving governance. A number of examples of current uses of these media are provided. Recent insight and experience suggest how the newer information and communication technologies are somewhat tipping the balance toward those opposing corruption.
