In the third article of the series publications on the topic “A. Blok and Vl. Solovyov”, the author considers the representation of the heritage of Western esoterism in Blok’s drama “The Rose and the Cross” on the example of the poet's appeal to the themes of Joachimism and Catharism, including the neo-mythological connection of the Cathars with the legend of the Holy Grail. The author analyzes the influence of V.V. Solovyov's historiosophy and E.V. Anichkov's aesthetics on the symbolism of the drama from the perspective of rethinking these themes. It is shown that the drama of Blok is deeply intertwined with the neo-mythological concepts of the "French school" of Western esotericism, which were widely discussed in the circle of Russian symbolists, for example, in connection with the work of Sar Peladan. The conclusion is made about the influence on the symbolism of the drama of the works of V. Solovyov and the beliefs of E. V. Anichkov associated with medieval mysticism. An extensive bibliography is provided.

This article considers the problem of the historical sources reflected in Blok’s drama “The Rose and the Cross”. It demonstrates that Blok’s marginalia in the books of his library serve as an indication of the unknown literary and historical sources of the “Notes” on the Albigensian crusade in the drama “The Rose and the Cross”, and can also be used in interpreting the symbolism of this drama. The marginal notes on the history of the Albigensian crusade that Blok made while working on the play are drawn on as a scholarly source for the first time. In the Appendice to the article facsimiles of Blok’s notes on the Albigensian crusade are published for the first time, accompanied by commentaries and a concordance.

The report contains fragments of a commentary to A. А. Blokʼs datebook of 1915. Its features are briefly described. The focus is on the notes related to L. A. Delmas, the history of the censorship of the drama "The Rose and the Cross", the preparation of the book Poems of Apollo Grigoriev, the poetʼs response to the activities in the defense of the Jews (an appeal, a questionnaire, collection "The Shield" etc.). The purpose of the comments is to expand and clarify the context of some of Block’s entries in the datebook.

The article represents the comparative analysis of personal and creative mutual relations of A.A. Blok and E.V. Anitchkov. The research shows the formation of Anitchkov’s beliefs as a disciple and follower of A.N. Veselovsky. Anitchkov’s works are considered in the context of successive connection with aesthetic study and historiosophy of Vladimir Solovyov. It is revealed that in his works during the immigration period he paid close attention to the medieval eschatological contexts of this historiosophy and foremost “Christian mythology” and chiliastic doctrine of Joachim of Flora about the third age of the Holy Spirit. It is indicated that Anitchkov’s research subjects during the immigration period are similar to the several medieval plots of A. Blok’s drama “The Rose and the Cross”, which are attributed to the eschatological and Albigensian problematics. The conclusion is made that hermeneutic analysis of the symbolic meanings of the drama based on these works is productive. The hypothesis is substantiated that the late works that can be attributed to the Middle Ages in France represent Anitchkov’s scientific interests and a circle of personal beliefs, and he was A. Blok’s consultant on the Middle Ages in France while he was working on the drama “The Rose and the Cross”. The full text of extracts made form Anitchkov’s works by A. Blok that was saved in the Manuscript Division of the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences is represented for the first time in the appendix of the article with necessary comments.
