The theoretical treatment of the blanketing effect and the first photometric results had shown that the separation of stars of different metal content should be better in the RGU system than in the UBV system. A three color photometry of the globular cluster M5 is undertaken to show the position of these stars in the RGU two-color diagram, to derive the conversion formulae between the two photometric systems for these stars and to use the results for the classification of population II field stars in statistical investigations of the galactic halo.

The equations for solute reabsorption in the proximal kidney tubule are derived, assuming Michaelis–Menten type kinetics and linear water reabsorption. Application of the equations to glucose shows that the transport system has a high affinity for glucose, being half saturated at less than 5 mgm. 100 ml. Most of the departure from ideal behavior of the human glucose saturation curve cannot be attributed to an unsaturated transport system. A dispersal of tubule absorptive capacity in a log-normal distribution can account for the curvature of the saturation curve.

Abstract Self-phase modulation (SPM) is one of the major non-linear effect in single-tone radio over fiber system which limits the long-distance transmission as it leads to the broadening of pulse spectrum. In this paper, the mathematical and parametric analysis was carried out to understand the origination and upgradation of SPM and based on results achieved, a rigorous evaluation has been conducted to decrease the impact of SPM. The effect of SPM has been evaluated in terms of optical spectrums, eye diagrams, eye-opening and Q-factor by utilizing four important parameters specifically launched power, fiber effective area, bit rate and fiber attenuation using OptiSystem simulator which reveals insight information for the elimination of non-linear effects.
