<p class="ETSNormal">Annotation of video for learning provides tertiary education students with the opportunity to view and engage with course material in an active rather than passive-receptive mode. This multiple-case study examined the integration of a media annotation tool, <em>MAT</em>, across four vocational programs in a Melbourne university. <em>MAT</em> was integrated to allow students to access, interact with, and learn from a range of video-based learning materials. Within one audiovisual technology and three property services cohorts, the teachers planned for and implemented <em>MAT</em> to allow students to analyse case-based and role-played scenarios to help develop workplace skills. This paper frames these integrations within ‘Prepare-Participate-Connect’ models, and illustrates that while students were in the main satisfied with their learning experiences, learning design contexts (such as video choice, individual versus team analysis, and timing of intervention) affected student satisfaction. Analysis of the data indicates that additional to participation, preparation and connection are key to student satisfaction when annotating video.</p>

AbstractThis study introduces the Kitchen Chemistry (KC) course and its influences on chemistry education as a whole. KC is considered to be a life-relevant learning environment that engages learners in science through the pursuit of personally relevant and meaningful goals. KC, as a form of interdisciplinary learning, aims to develop boundary-crossing skills and to support the development of pupils’ scientific thinking. The purpose of this research was to determine how KC as a context-based teaching approach applies to chemistry education and what it offers to chemistry teaching and teacher education. We found that KC gave lower secondary school pupils the opportunity to understand the chemical phenomena in a familiar context. Teachers of visiting groups saw that integration is the challenge: pupils often see the subjects of chemistry and home economics as separate entities. The chemistry education students highlighted real-world connections to chemistry concepts and contexts. They also found KC to be an interesting form of teaching chemistry. According to the KC course teachers, the students were motivated and excited, and provided positive feedback on the course. These findings suggest that teachers and teacher education students need to be guided in actively using integration.

<span>This case study examined the integration of a media annotation tool (</span><em>MAT</em><span>) into the learning and assessment activities of an undergraduate teaching (physical education) course. The media form or artefact for annotation was video recordings demonstrating individual learners' teaching practice. The learners categorised (marked sections) and annotated their videos and received peer and teacher feedback within the tool. Their use of </span><em>MAT</em><span> was analysed to determine if this learning environment was effective in the context of the case, to critically reflect upon and evaluate pre-service teaching practice. The research site was RMIT University, Melbourne, and data was collected from the pilot users of </span><em>MAT</em><span>, a third year class and their teacher/key academic, using pre- and post-surveys and interactive process interviews (combined sessions of direct observation and semi-structured interviews). The data indicated </span><em>MAT</em><span> was effective for the main learning purpose of the case, but also identified some areas for further consideration</span>

The goal of this multiple case study was to investigate straight counseling students’ perceptions of their preparation to work with GLBT clients. For this study, semi - structured interviews were conducted with six straight counselor education students from two universities. Pattern matching analysis revealed that students with significant exposure to GLBT individuals, as well as those who believed their training provided adequate preparation for GLBT counseling, were more likely to adopt a GLBT - affirmative identity and to experience greater self - efficacy about counseling with GLBT individuals. In addition, thematic analysis revealed seven themes of participants’ experiences that fell into four categories. Ideas for counselor educators to incorporate experiential learning into their programs are offered.

Abstract Academic misconduct is a problem of growing concern across the tertiary education sector. While plagiarism has been the most common form of academic misconduct, the advent of software programs to detect plagiarism has seen the problem of misconduct simply mutate. As universities attempt to function in an increasingly complex environment, the factors that contribute to academic misconduct are unlikely to be easily mitigated. A multiple case study approach examined how academic misconduct is perceived in universities in in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom via interviews with academics and administrators. The findings show that academic misconduct is a systemic problem that manifests in various ways and requires similarly diverse approaches to management. Greater consistency in policies and procedures, including a focus on preventative education for both staff and students, is key to managing the mutations of academic misconduct that continue to plague the higher education sector globally.

Discord application, a voice and text chat platform usually used for games, social, class, or business groups, started to be used as one of the alternative media in virtual learning. A deeper investigation was conducted to get more information about students’ perception of virtual learning by using Discord application. This study implemented a qualitative research design, especially a case study. The data were collected from tertiary education students who were experienced in virtual English learning by using Discord by distributing an online questionnaire and doing interviews. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that 89.72% of the students positively perceived the use of Discord application in virtual English learning. Some advantages of virtual learning by using Discord application found in the study were elaborated.

The purpose of this study was to determine what type of marketing communication objectives are present in the digital content marketing developed by luxury auto brands with social media presence in Puerto Rico, particularly Facebook. A longitudinal multiple-case study design was used to analyze five luxury auto brands using content analysis on Facebook posts. This analysis included identification of marketing communication objectives through social media content marketing strategies, type of media content and social media metrics. Our results showed that the most used objectives are brand awareness, brand personality, and brand salience. Another significant result is that digital content marketing used by brands in social media are focused towards becoming more visible and recognized; also, reflecting human-like traits and attitudes in their social media.
