Die (Technologie-) Entwicklung im Zukunftsprojekt Industrie 4.0 wird an keinem Unternehmen vorbeigehen. Insbesondere Hersteller von bislang rein mechanischen Komponenten und Bauteilen üben sich jedoch derzeit noch oft in Zurückhaltung. Worin liegt der Nutzen von Industrie 4.0? Wie können Fertigungsbetriebe davon profitieren? Werden sie durch die aktuellen Entwicklungen gezwungen, mit „auf den Zug aufzuspringen“ oder ist es ihnen sogar möglich, sich über neue Geschäftsmodelle vom Wettbewerb abzusetzen?   The development of the technology within the future-oriented project Industry 4.0 will affect every company, a fact well known today. The situation is precarious especially for producers of solely mechanic components and parts – posing the question of their benefit? How can they profit from this development? Are they obliged by current development to jump on the bandwagon or instead does it offer the chance to come up with new business models and differentiate against competitors?

Im Forschungsfeld Industrie 4.0 sind neben dem weiteren Optimieren der Wertschöpfung produzierender Unternehmen vor allem Potentiale durch neue Geschäftsmodelle zu erwarten. Letztere werden jedoch oft nicht weiter konkretisiert. Die systematische Integration des Themas Industrie 4.0 in den Geschäftsmodellkontext steht noch am Anfang. Der Beitrag stellt eine Vorgehensweise zur Entwicklung branchenspezifischer Geschäftsmodellszenarien am Beispiel des Maschinen- und Anlagenbaus vor.   The research area of Industry 4.0 or Industrial Internet offers great potential, ranging from the optimization of a company’s own value creation to new business models. The latter have rarely been specified. The systematic integration of Industry 4.0 aspects into the business model context has only just begun. This paper illustrates an approach for the development of industry-specific business model scenarios, exemplified by the machinery and equipment sector.

This chapter considers the role played by radio in popularizing and defining country music. Radio as a format pursued a commercially driven mediation of identity that worked against applying an artistically driven musical genre definition. In particular, these debates revolved around gendered presentation and women as listeners and performers. From the 1920s through World War II, radio’s prominence in country turned on live radio shows as the media introduction of southern whites. A second era, from the end of the war to mid-1970s, saw a shift to disc jockeys and records: personality radio. Format radio country, a tighter programming approach, solidified from the mid-1970s to the mega mergers of the late 1990s. Most recently, in an era of Internet access and new business models for music, country has confronted the less sympathetic position of networked radio.

ABSTRACT Firms are often criticized for their reluctance to embrace sustainability in their business strategies. Frugal innovation is a recent concept that represents a new way for firms to serve underserved customers in developing countries while also promoting sustainability. Based on three cases of frugal innovation at the grassroots level in India, this article demonstrates how frugal innovation presents a promising way to tackle some of today's pressing societal problems with new business models. We use a range of parameters for economic, social, and environmental sustainability to strengthen the case for frugal innovation. This article attempts to inspire scholars to consider frugal innovation further in their future research endeavors and encourage firms to integrate it into their existing business models.
