AbstractThe following note is a brief discussion of the most recent developments in the language debate in Haiti. Our main objective is to raise awareness of the ongoing tensions between those that advocate for some type of bilingual Haitian society and those who passionately seek to empower Haitian Creole. These reflections were triggered by the availability of the first comprehensive linguistic, social and historical account of Haitian Creole, Spears and Joseph's (2010)

While conducting research intended to explore the underlying thoughts and assumptions held by non-Indigenous teachers and policy makers involved in Aboriginal education I dug out my first book on Australian history which had been given when I was about seven years old. Titled Australia From the Beginning (Pownall, 1980), the book was written for children and was not a scholarly book. It surprised me, then, to find so many of my own understandings and assumptions about Aboriginal affairs and race relations in this book despite four years of what had seemed quite liberal education in Australian history.

This book offers the students and researchers a unique introduction to Bayesian statistics. Authors provide a wonderful journey in the realm of Bayesian Probability and aspire readers to become Bayesian statisticians. The book starts with Introduction to Probability and covers Bayes’ Theorem, Probability Mass Functions, Probability Density Functions, The Beta-Binomial Conjugate, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), and Metropolis-Hastings Algorithm. The book is very well written, and topics are very to the point with real-world applications but does not provide examples for computing using common open-source software.
