AbstractBackgroundBrunner’s gland adenoma is a rare benign tumor arising from Brunner’s glands. It is mostly small in size, and patients with this tumor are asymptomatic.Case presentationWe report the case of a 63-year-old woman with upper gastrointestinal obstruction for almost 10 years, who was pathologically diagnosed with large Brunner’s gland adenoma of the duodenum. Postoperatively, no sign of recurrence has been noted until now.ConclusionThis study may help clinicians to understand and provide a more accurate diagnosis of Brunner’s gland adenoma.

A novel in vitro model that combined functional and morphological techniques was employed to directly examine pathways regulating Brunner's gland secretion in isolation from epithelium. In vitro submucosal preparations were dissected from guinea pig duodenum. A videomicroscopy technique was used to measure changes in luminal diameter of glandular acini as an index of activation of secretion. Carbachol elicited concentration-dependent dilations of the lumen (EC50= 2 μM) by activating muscarinic receptors on acinar cells. Ultrastructural and histological analyses demonstrated that dilation was accompanied by single and compound exocytosis of mucin-containing granules and the accumulation of mucoid material within the lumen. Inflammatory mediators (histamine, PGE1, PGE2) and intestinal hormones (CCK, gastrin, vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, secretin) also stimulated glandular secretion, whereas activation of submucosal secretomotor neurons by 5-hydroxytryptamine did not. This study directly demonstrates that multiple hormonal, inflammatory, and neurocrine agents activate Brunner's glands, whereas many have dissimilar effects on the epithelium. This suggests that Brunner's glands are regulated by pathways that act both in parallel to and in isolation from those controlling epithelial secretion.

Brunner’s gland hamartoma is a rare benign tumor of duodenum .We present a case of large pedunculated duodenal hamartoma causing obstructive jaundice and significant dilatation of intrahepatic biliary radicles. Duodenal polyp is a rare benign tumor formed from a proliferation of Brunner gland, typically forming polypoid growth in proximal duodenum and can extend up to 3rd part of duodenum. It may be incidental finding but can present in emergency with obstruction and hemorrhage requiring surgical endoscopic resection.

Background: Hemolymphangioma is a rare benign tumor. To the best of our knowledge, there were only 10 reports of this tumor of the pancreas until March 2018. Case Report: Here, we reported a large invasive hemolymphangioma of the pancreas in a young woman with a complaint of abdominal distension and an epigastric mass about 3 weeks. She was found to have a huge multilocular cystic tumor at the neck and body of pancreas on computed tomography. She was eventually diagnosed with hemolymphangioma of the pancreas after operation. After 2 years of follow-up, there was no signs of recurrence. Conclusion: From our case and literature, we can conclude that hemolymphangioma of the pancreas is uncommon benign tumor, and it is hard to make an accurate diagnosis preoperatively. Radical surgical resection should be performed whenever possible. The prognosis of this disease seems good.

Introduction. Rhabdomyomas of the head and neck are exceptionally rare benign mesenchymal tumors. Rare cases have been reported to involve other sites of the body including the head and neck regions.Case Presentation. We report a case of voluminous extracardiac adult rhabdomyoma affecting adult patients and initially seen as slowly growing, indolent neoplasms. The patient is a seventy-year old male Italian patient.Conclusion. Adult extracardiac rhabdomyoma is a rare benign tumor that may present with symptoms that vary from aerodigestive tract obstruction to remaining asymptomatic for many years. Although histology is very characteristic, several differential diagnoses have to be considered. To our knowledge, this is the first case of voluminous adult-type symptomless rhabdomyoma.

Brunner’s gland hamartomas are rare, benign small bowel tumours. There were fewer than 150 cases reported in the English literature until the end of the last century. These hamartomas may be discovered incidentally during an upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy. Otherwise, they may be diagnosed in patients presenting with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia or symptoms of intestinal obstruction. The case of a young woman admitted for acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding along with acute pancreatitis is presented. The investigation revealed a giant Brunner’s gland hamartoma in the second part of the duodenum. After total endoscopic resection of the tumour, the patient has remained completely asymptomatic for a follow-up period of seven months.
