Abstract The article gives an overview of a virtual simulation method under ECE Regulation No. R66 - bus rollover. The first part of the article introduces the process of virtual simulations in terms of homologation. The conclusion is focused on the correlation of physical tests with virtual simulations.

With the innovation of computer hardware technology and software technology, virtual simulation technology has been applied in various fields, including sports training and basketball teaching process. In this paper, the basketball technology actions optimization system is designed by using MATLAB virtual simulation method, and the initial signal calculus model of basketball technology actions is established by using wireless sensor signal transmission principle, and then using the trained neural network method carries on processing for the initial signal, combining the approximation degree of optimal training signal and original signal determine the validity and reliability of the simulation. Through the simulation, we finally get the optimization allocation effect of the number of neurons’ best basketball technology actions, which provides a new computer method for the exploration of basketball training new method.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of virtual simulation-based language learning in a foreign language class in Korea. Total 35 1st-year university students in Korea participated in this research to figure out the effect of simulations. A virtual English learning community, ‘Cypris Chat’ in Second Life was selected as a learning tool. For the data collection, a survey questionnaire was distributed and analyzed quantitatively. The result shows that the majority of the students had a positive attitude toward using a virtual simulation in English learning and had better understanding in learning English by experiencing an authentic practice. The first section of this paper provides a general overview of simulations in educational settings through an insightful literature review of the current research in the area. The review includes a comprehensive outlook on simulations, an example of successful classroom integration and some of the considerations researchers have found for their implementation. The latter section addresses the research method, results and conclusions.

Object In this paper, the authors' goal was to report their novel presurgical simulation method applying interactive virtual simulation (IVS) using 3D computer graphics (CG) data and microscopic observation of color-printed plaster models based on these CG data in surgery for skull base and deep tumors. Methods For 25 operations in 23 patients with skull base or deep intracranial tumors (meningiomas, schwannomas, epidermoid tumors, chordomas, and others), the authors carried out presurgical simulation based on 3D CG data created by image analysis for radiological data. Interactive virtual simulation was performed by modifying the 3D CG data to imitate various surgical procedures, such as bone drilling, brain retraction, and tumor removal, with manipulation of a haptic device. The authors also produced color-printed plaster models of modified 3D CG data by a selective laser sintering method and observed them under the operative microscope. Results In all patients, IVS provided detailed and realistic surgical perspectives of sufficient quality, thereby allowing surgeons to determine an appropriate and feasible surgical approach. Surgeons agreed that in 44% of the 25 operations IVS showed high utility (as indicated by a rating of “prominent”) in comprehending 3D microsurgical anatomies for which reconstruction using only 2D images was complicated. Microscopic observation of color-printed plaster models in 12 patients provided further utility in confirming realistic surgical anatomies. Conclusions The authors' presurgical simulation method applying advanced 3D imaging and modeling techniques provided a realistic environment for practicing microsurgical procedures virtually and enabled the authors to ascertain complex microsurgical anatomy, to determine the optimal surgical strategies, and also to efficiently educate neurosurgical trainees, especially during surgery for skull base and deep tumors.

As an emerging industry, large-scale commercial and residential interior rational planning is related to the comfort of living. This paper proposes a virtual simulation method to design and plan large-scale commercial and residential interior space. The paper uses least squares image matching method in virtual reality to construct spatial distance calculation model, calculate the straight-line distance of key parts in large-scale commercial and residential space, and make up the shortcomings in traditional design. The design can be adjusted to the specific circumstances to reduce the cost of the actual design. Finally, simulation is conducted on basis of design data to prove the advantages of virtual reality.

Every new idea has some sort of precedent or echoes from the past. It is the same for the new residential buildings in Lingnan, China. In Lingnan, the vernacular knowledge of building design has been established over thousands of years. Whether it is suitable for use today should be verified. In this research, virtual simulations are employed to arrive at an overall conclusion. Virtual simulations based on PHOENICS, ENVI_MET, CadnaA, and Ecotect software were separately used for analysing the case of new residential buildings located in Lingnan. The study analysed the wind, thermal, acoustic, and light environments, which are four aspects of these new residential buildings. According to the results of our research, the paper discussed ways to amend and improve the new residential buildings that sit within the overall spirit of the vernacular knowledge of Lingnan; thus, it helps to put the traditional knowledge into the current context. The vernacular knowledge from XS to XL scale contexts, such as Feng-shui, was verified as being suitable for use in Lingnan today.

This investigation is undertaken based on the indicated improvements for fabric simulations. According to the expert opinions, there is no coherency between methods used to measure the fabric properties and the simulated results of the same fabric among the different software packages. In praxis, fashion brands use different 3D software packages and need to measure a fabric with different methods to obtain the same fabric properties. In addition to the time investment, the simulated results for the same fabric vary significantly between the different software packages. The experts indicated the lack of standardization in material measurements, the lack of correlation between the data of the different measurement systems, and the lack of correlation between the simulated results of the different software packages for the same material. This paper investigates, on the one hand, the suitability of the two measurement technologies for retrieving fabric parameters for precise virtual fabric and garment simulations. The focus is on the main properties required by the software packages - bending, shear, tensile and friction-aiming to identify and specify the most suitable methods to retrieve mechanical fabric properties and to start a standardization process for fabric measurements for virtual simulations.
