THE SPECTRAL BEHAVIOR OF GROUND COSEISMIC MOTION IN THE BAIKAL REGION: EFFECT OF SEASONAL THAWING-FREEZING CYCLES

The Elachistidae material collected during the joint Soviet-Finnish entomological expeditions to the Altai mountains, Baikal region and Tianshan mountains of the previous USSR is listed. Previous literature dealing with the Elachistidae in Central Asia is reviewed. A total of 40 species are dealt with, including descriptions of five new species: Stephensia jalmarella sp. n. (Altai), Elachista baikalica sp. n. (Baikal), E. talgarella sp. n. (southern Kazakhstan), E. esmeralda sp. n. (southern Kazakhstan) and E. filicornella sp. n. (southern Kazakhstan). The previously unknown females of E. bimaculata Parenti, 1981 and Biselachista zonulae Sruoga, 1992 are described.

The development of the European North of Russia, where flat and high-hummocky bog complexes are spread, requires information on the processes of formation of their hydrological regime and freezing of this territory. For the first time, based on observational data, for the period from 1993 to 2013, characteristics of the hydrological regime and freezing of hummocky bogs in Northern European Russia are presented, the case study of the Lovozerskoye bog. The observations were carried out in accordance with the unified methods, approved for the specialized network of Roshydromet bog stations. The regularities of the formation of the hydrological regime of hummocky bogs have been revealed: bog water level drops dramatically from the beginning of freezing to the end of March, rises during snow melt period, slightly drops in summer and rises in autumn. The main feature of hummocky bogs is permafrost, which determines their specific structure. It has been discovered that gravitation snowmelt and liquid precipitation waters relatively quickly run down the hummocks over the frozen layer into hollows between them. Levels of bog waters on the hummocks are absent for a longer period of time. In spring, the amplitude of water level rise in swamplands is on average 60–80 cm. Air temperature and insulation properties of snow are the main factors that influence the bog freezing. Hummocks freeze out as deep as 63–65 cm, which corresponds to the depth of their seasonal thawing in the warm period of the year, and adjoin the permafrost. The greatest depth of freezing of the swamplands is 82 – 87 cm, with an average of 68 cm. The frozen layer at swamplands thaws out from both its upper and bottom sides. The melting of the frozen layer at hummocks occurs only from the bog surface with an average intensity of 0,51 cm/day.

Until recently only two species of Gyalideopsis (G. piceicola and G. alnicola) were known from very few localities in Russia. Gyalideopsis helvetica is reported for the first time for Russia from the southern part of Baikal area (KhamarDaban Range, Baikalsky Zapovednik). Description of the collected specimen and its comparison with the literature data are provided; morphology, ecology and distribution of G. helvetica are discussed. The hyphophores of G. helvetica are recorded and described for the first time. An identification key to Gyalideopsis species known in Russia is provided.

The article presents literature data on the intra-landscape placement of chubby tit and gives a complete description of areas suitable for the habitat of these birds.

В статье проводится обобщение сведений о поэтапном заселении байкальского региона, и вводятся в научный оборот ранее нигде не упоминавшиеся источники, свидетельствующие о мирной колонизации края русскими, а также о проживании русских в Сибири, за долго до похода Ермака. Как новый метод исследования применяется анализ художественной фотографии, как этнокультурного источника. В работе также ставится под сомнение вопрос о происхождении сибирского казачества.The article summarizes the information about the gradual settlement of the Baikal region, and introduced into scientific circulation previously never mentioned sources, indicating the peaceful colonization of the region by the Russians, as well as the Russian residence in Siberia, long before the campaign of Ermak. The analysis of art photography as an ethno-cultural source is used as a new method of research. The paper also questions the origin of the Siberian Cossacks.

On the basis of long-term researches of soils in the territory of Russia and Mongolia soil and ecological division into districts of the Baikal region is carried out. At division into districts the whole set of an environment of soil formation was considered. On the map of soil and ecological division into districts 13 mountain, mid-mountain, low-mountain taiga, foothill, hollow-valley, forest-steppe and steppe provinces reflecting surface device originality as the ratio of balance of heat and moisture forming a basis to zoning is shown against the background of difficult orography are allocated. In total 42 districts on lithologic-geomorphological features are allocated. In formation of distinctions of a soil cover of these provinces the leading role is played by bioclimatic factors and inside them the lithologic-geomorphological ones. In the view of structural approach of the district they are considered as territories with a certain natural change of several types of the soil cover structure caused by features of a relief and the parent rock. The map is made in the MapInfo program. It is revealed that on ill-defined width zoning of soils the vertical one which has a greater influence on soils of this region is imposed. Soils of the Baikal region are not similar to the soils located at the same latitude of the flat European territory of Russia. Zone soils of this territory are specific and original.
