Plantago commersoniana is a rare and threatened species, with a highly disjunct distribution, mainly in southern Brazil. This study expands its distribution to Mato Grosso do Sul state, in the Central-West region of Brazil, due to the discovery of a collection of this species from rocky grasslands in Ponta Porã. This new record is ca. 285 km distant from the nearest known population, in Yhú, Caaguazú department, eastern Paraguay. This is also the first record of a native Plantago species in Mato Grosso do Sul. Its conservation status according to the IUCN criteria is Endangered (EN).

The Greater Bonneted Bat, Eumops perotis (Schinz, 1821), is widely distributed in Brazil, but valid records of its occurrence in Mato Grosso do Sul, Central-West Region, are still scarce and limited to the Pantanal portion of the state. Here, we report the first record of E. perotis from the Cerrado portion of Mato Grosso do Sul, based on specimens collected in an urban forest remnant in the municipality of Campo Grande. These specimens add to the records of E. perotis in the Cerrado of the Central-West and fill gaps in the distribution of this species.

A new species of Austrolebias belonging to the A. bellottii species group is herein described from the Brazilian Chaco, Mato Grosso do Sul state, constituting the northernmost record of the genus in Brazil, as well as the first record of this genus on the left bank of the Rio Paraguai. The new species is distinguished from all other species of the A. bellottii group by the following combination of characters: pectoral fin posterior margin reaching vertical between base of 4th and 7th anal fin rays in females, a high number of gill rakers in the first branchial arch, a lower head width in both sexes, and a small number of neuromasts in the preopercular series. Additionally, we provide information on ecology and the conservation status of the new species.

Nymphoides grayana (Menyanthaceae) is a macrophyte, and its occurrence is known in Brazil only for the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. In this paper, a new record of N. grayana is presented for the state of Tocantins, representing the first record of Menyanthaceae for the state and expanding the occurrence of the species for the North Region of Brazil.

Aedes (Ochlerotatus) lepidus (Cerqueira & Paraense, 1945) is reported from a cave in Templo dos Pilares Municipal Park, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. A single exploratory collection of culicids was carried out using CDC light traps on 16 November 2015. Four larvae and 11 adults (1♂, 10♀) were collected. The larvae were foundin a water-filled hole in a stone. This is the first record of the species in Mato Grosso do Sul, which increases to 63 the number of culicids species recorded in the state.

We report the first record of Conuramorleyi (Hymenoptera: Chalcididae) parasitizing pupae of Brassolis sp. (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Fifty-four individuals of C.morleyi emerged from two pupae of Brassolis collected in an urban area of Campo Grande. With our new record, the genus Conura is now represented in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul by 15 species. Our record of C. morleyi in Mato Grosso do Sul represents a range extension for this species.

The genus Cuscuta L. (Convolvulaceae) are holoparasitic plants with cosmopolitan distributions, and they are usually difficult to identify. Based on several new field collections, we present three new floristic records from this genus in Central-West Brazil. Cuscuta platyloba Progel and Cuscuta partita Choisy are cited for the first time from Mato Grosso do Sul state, while Cuscuta xanthochortos var. carinata Mart., which was previously only known from southern Brazil, is also shown to be present in the Central-West region of the country. An identification key of Cuscuta species from Mato Grosso do Sul is also provided.

The neotropical stink brown bug, Euschistus heros (F.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is an insect pest to soybean crops in Mato Grosso State, Brazil. In this region, synthetic insecticides are frequently used for insect control. An alternative to the indiscriminate use of insecticides is the biological control with parasitoids. Thus, the objective of this study was to conduct the survey of parasitoids that use E. heros adults as hosts. Random samples were conducted during the harvests of 2009/10 and 2010/11 in two farms that produce soybean (conventional system) in Tangará da Serra, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. The total number of collected E. heros was: 297 (Field 1) and 293 (Field 2) in 2009/10 and 295 (Field 1) and 376 (Field 2) in 2010/11. Of these, 1.50 (Field 1) and 13.99% (Field 2) were parasitized in 2009/10 and 8.47 (Field 1) and 7.45% (Field 2) in 2010/11. The parasitoids found were Hexacladia smithii Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) in both fields. This is the first record of parasitism in E. heros adults in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.
