Aphid parasitoids have been recorded in many countries around the globe, however records in Colombia are few. Here, five primary parasitoids species, Aphidius platensis Brèthes, 1913, Aphidius funebris Mackauer, 1961, Aphidius matricariae Haliday, 1834, Aphelinus varipes (Förster, 1841), Aphelinus paramali Zehavi & Rosen, 1989, and two hyperparasitoids species, Syrphophagus aphidivorus (Mayr, 1876) and Pachyneuron aphidis (Bouché, 1834) are newly recorded in Colombia. Two other primary parasitoids, Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson, 1880) and Aphidius colemani Viereck, 1912 are newly recorded from the department of Valle del Cauca.

Species of Aphidiinae (Braconidae) have never been surveyed in Central America. Here we present the results of an initial inventory of the aphidiine species of Costa Rica and record the presence of ten species (four undetermined), in six genera. The material was obtained by rearing aphids from both crop and noncrop plants throughout the country. In total 2832 aphidiine specimens were reared from 24 species of aphids.Aphidius colemaniandLysiphlebus testaceipes, which are probably not native to Costa Rica, accounted for nearly 90% of all the specimens. Many of the other aphidiines are also probably exotic species, as are most of their host aphids.

A summary of the study of Aphis illinoisensis Shimer on grapes, Vitis vinifera in the Mediterranean area brings references and new findings on its distribution in Crete/Greece, Turkey, Northern Cyprus, Malta, Israel, Montenegro, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya. Parasitoids of A. illinoisensis were only occasionally found (Aphidius matricariae Hal. - Cyprus, Turkey, Greece; Aphidius colemani Viereck - Libya; Lysiphlebus testaceipes Cress. - Algeria). Of the native species, i.e. A. colemani, and others similar to the native species, L. testaceipes seem to be a promising biocontrol agent within the framework of an ecologically friendly management in the area. Given the evidence of its expansion, A. illinoisensis is expected to expand further in several directions from the recently documented invaded area to all the grape-growing areas of the Mediterranean and even those of South-Eastern and Central Europe.

Species from the genus Paralipsis are obligatory endoparasitoids of root aphids in the Palaearctic. It is known that these species are broadly distributed, parasitizing various aphid hosts and showing great biological and ecological diversity. On the other hand, this group of endoparasitoids is understudied and was thought to be represented by a single species in Europe, viz., Paralipsisenervis (Nees). However, recent description of two new species indicated the possibility of cryptic speciation and recognition of additional Paralipsis species in Europe. In this research, Paralipsis specimens collected during the last 60 years from eight European countries, as well as one sample from Morocco, were subjected to molecular and morphological characterization. Newly designed genus-specific degenerative primers successfully targeted short overlapping fragments of COI of the mitochondrial DNA. Molecular analyses showed clear separation of four independent lineages, two of which are the known species P.enervis and P.tibiator, while two new species are described here, viz., P.brachycaudi Tomanović & Starý, sp. n. and P.rugosa Tomanović & Starý, sp. n. No clear specialization of the taxa to a strict root aphid host has been determined. The recognized mitochondrial lineages were distinct one from another, but with a substantial within-lineage divergence rate, clearly indicating the complexity of this group of parasitoids, on which further research is required in order to clarify the factors triggering their genetic differentiation. We reviewed literature data and new records of Paralipsisenervis aphid host associations and distributions. A key for the identification of all known Paralipsis species is provided and illustrated.

We report new records of eight species of ground beetles (Coleoptera, Carabidae) from Colombia originated from recent field trips and from museum specimens: Amblygnathus suturalis Putzeys, 1845 (Atlántico), Bembidion chimborazonum Bates, 1891 (Valle del Cauca), Homopterus subcordatus Darlington, 1950 (Caquetá), Hyboptera auxiliadora Erwin, 2004 (Bolívar), Neoaulacoryssus cupripennis (Gory, 1833) (Tolima), Notiobia disparilis Bates, 1878 (Caquetá), Notiobia glabrata Arndt, 1998 (Caquetá), and Trichopselaphus magnificus Ball, 1978 (Valle del Cauca). These records belong to species expected to be found in Colombia, because previous studies have shown their presence in nearby countries, but whose presence in the country was not confirmed so far.
