The present study reports new records of the Dipsadid snake Rhachidelus brazili Boulenger, 1908, from Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul states, Brazil. Our data extend the known geographical distribution ca. 713 km to the northwest and constitute the first record in the Upper Paraguay sub-basin.

We provide new records of Acratosaura mentalis from three localities in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, these records extending the known geographical distribution of the species to the municipalities of Sertânia, Custódia and Floresta. We also report A. mentalis from the municipality of Mauriti, which is the first record for the state of Ceará, Brazil.

We reviewed the geographical distribution of Pseudoeryx plicatilis in South America, and present new records in Bolivia and from nine Brazilian states. This is the first record of P. plicatilis in the states of Acre, Amapá, and Roraima, northern region of Brazil. The presence of P. plicatilis in the municipality of Alta Floresta expands its distribution about 650- 700 km northward in the state of Mato Grosso, and about 620 km southward from the nearest localities in the state of Pará. Other new records are presented, which contribute to the knowledge of the distribution of P. plicatilis in South America.

We document the geographical distribution of 6 species of Sciomyzidae from the Pantanal biome of Brazil. The species were collected in aquatic or semi-aquatic habitats from Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. Sepedomerus bipuncticeps (Malloch, 1933) and Sepedonea canabravana Knutson & Bredt, 1976 are new records from Mato Grosso and Sepedonea lindneri (Hendel, 1932), Sepedonea telson (Steyskal, 1951), Sepedonea veredae Freidberg, 1991, and Thecomyia limbata (Wiedemann, 1819) from Mato Grosso do Sul. Photographs of collection areas, the habitus of adults, and a distribution map of the species are provided.

The doline Buraco das Araras is a peculiar environment and important destiny for ecotourism in the Serra da Bodoquena region, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Here we describe the bat fauna of the doline and surrounding areas, and report its use as dayroost by the bat Nyctinomops laticaudatus. Bats were mist-netted during two field expeditions, in November 2007 and January 2008. We captured 153 individuals of 10 species, mainly N. laticaudatus (n = 90) and Artibeus planirostris (n = 28). This is the first record of N. laticaudatus in the Serra da Bodoquena region; it was captured only in January when leaving the doline in dense flocks at dusk. Phyllostomus hastatus, Micronycteris sanborni, and Molossops temminckii are also new records for the Serra da Bodoquena region. Three individuals - A. planirostris, Carollia perspicillata and Glossophaga soricina - tagged in November were recaptured in January, indicating that these species are residents. The doline and bordering vegetation appear to be important sources of shelter and food for bat fauna maintenance.

Triatoma baratai Carcavallo & Jurberg, 2000, a species similar to Triatoma williami Galvão, Souza & Lima, 1967 andbelonging to the T. matogrossensis subcomplex, was described based on a male specimen collected in a sylvatic environ-ment, near a cave, in Bonito county, Bodoquena mountain range, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. In the present workwe describe the female of T. baratai, captured in a chicken house, in Nioaque county, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.Furthermore, we recorded the occurrence of T. baratai in domiciles and peridomestic environment in another four munic-ipalities (Bodoquena, Bela Vista, Corumbá, and Miranda), extending its geographical distribution. Finally, we present a key to the species of the Triatoma matogrossensis subcomplex.

Cavernicola pilosa Barber, 1937 is a wild triatomine species that generally lives in caves but has been found invading dwellings. It feeds mostly on bat blood. This vector has a wide geographical distribution throughout Central and South America, including Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, French Guiana, Panamá, Peru, and Venezuela. In Brazil, C. pilosa occurs in the states of Bahia, Pará, Tocantins, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and Maranhão. We report for the first time its presence in Amazonas state, Brazil.

Collections carried out for a period of 10 weeks from October to December 2013 in two fragments of Cerrado (experimental farm of Embrapa Gado de Corte and Private Reserve of Natural Heritage belong to the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (RPPN-UFMS)) located in the municipality of Campo Grande, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Midwestern Brazil, with traps baited with decomposing beef liver, and collections conducted for a period of 15 days in January 2014 in the RPPN-UFMS, using Shannon traps baited with dog corpses, resulted in 32 flesh fly species of eight genera, with the first record of the genus Blaesoxipha and 15 new species records to Mato Grosso do Sul.

We document a new locality of Diaemus youngi in the Cerrado biome, extend the distribution in Mato Grosso do Sul state (southwestern Brazil), and present the first record of a vampire bat species from the state’s capital, Campo Grande. We recorded one male adult in an urban remnant of Cerrado. There are few locality data for this species in the Cerrado biome and our report significantly adds to the knowledge of this species’ distribution within the state and throughout Brazil.

We report the first record of Conuramorleyi (Hymenoptera: Chalcididae) parasitizing pupae of Brassolis sp. (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Fifty-four individuals of C.morleyi emerged from two pupae of Brassolis collected in an urban area of Campo Grande. With our new record, the genus Conura is now represented in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul by 15 species. Our record of C. morleyi in Mato Grosso do Sul represents a range extension for this species.
