According to the higher order modes of the structure are difficult to extract and the lower order are easy to obtain in practice, it is put forward that only uses the parameters of lower or first-order modal to constitute the modal flexibility curvature difference (MFCD) as the index of damage identification, which based on the flexibility matrix of structure being sensitive to the structure modal characteristics. Numerical analysis is made on different damage conditions of a plate structure, and the result shows that the MFCD can not only accurately identify the single-damage and multi-damage position of plate structure, but also reflect the size of damage degree. It has a great significance to apply the index into the range of damage identification of actual structures.

In this paper, we present the hyperchaos dynamics of a modified canonical Chua's electrical circuit. This circuit, which is capable of realizing the behavior of every member of the Chua's family, consists of just five linear elements (resistors, inductors and capacitors), a negative conductor and a piecewise linear resistor. The route followed is a transition from regular behavior to chaos and then to hyperchaos through border-collision bifurcation, as the system parameter is varied. The hyperchaos dynamics, characterized by two positive Lyapunov exponents, is described by a set of four coupled first-order ordinary differential equations. This has been investigated extensively using laboratory experiments, Pspice simulation and numerical analysis.

In this paper we find a solution for a quasi-isotropic inflationary Universe which allows to introduce in the problem a certain degree of inhomogeneity. We consider a model which generalizes the (flat) FLRW one by introducing a first order inhomogeneous term, whose dynamics is induced by an effective cosmological constant. The 3-metric tensor is constituted by a dominant term, corresponding to an isotropic-like component, while the amplitude of the first order one is controlled by a "small" function η(t). In a Universe filled with ultra relativistic matter and a real self-interacting scalar field, we discuss the resulting dynamics, up to first order in η, when the scalar field performs a slow roll on a plateau of a symmetry breaking configuration and induces an effective cosmological constant. We show how the spatial distribution of the ultra relativistic matter and of the scalar field admits an arbitrary form but nevertheless, due to the required inflationary e-folding, it cannot play a serious dynamical role in tracing the process of structures formation (via the Harrison–Zeldovic spectrum). As a consequence, this paper reinforces the idea that the inflationary scenario is incompatible with a classical origin of the large scale structures.

Taking Liaocheng Guangyue tower as an example, based on the on-site measurements, to determine its dynamic characteristics and provide a basis by numerical analysis method for determining traffic incentive effect on the ancient timber buildings. From the research, we can conclude that the first-order self-vibration frequency of Guangyue tower can be taken as 1.638Hz, the corresponding natural vibration period is 0.61s,the damping ratio is 1.098.

We introduce the command xtserialpm to perform the portmanteau test developed in Jochmans (2019, Cambridge Working Papers in Economics No. 1993, University of Cambridge, Faculty of Economics). The procedure tests for serial correlation of arbitrary form in the errors of a linear panel model after estimation of the regression coefficients by the within-group estimator. The test is designed for short panels and can deal with general missing-data patterns. The test is different from the related portmanteau test of Inoue and Solon (2006, Econometric Theory 22: 835–851), which is performed by xtistest (Wursten, 2018, Stata Journal 18: 76–100), in that it allows for heteroskedasticity. In simulations documented below, xtserialpm is found to provide a more powerful test than xthrtest (Wursten 2018), which performs the test for first-order autocorrelation of Born and Breitung (2016, Econometric Reviews 35: 1290–1316). We also provide comparisons with xtistest and xtserial (Drukker, 2003, Stata Journal 3: 168–177). These tests perform well under stationarity but break down under even mild forms of heteroskedasticity.

This paper deals with the first-order numerical analysis of thin layers. Theoretical results are recalled and compared with numerical data obtained on two classical examples. The effects of concentrated forces are discussed.
