A new species of the genus Cyrtodactylus is described from Dien Bien Province, northwestern Vietnam based on morphological and molecular data. Cyrtodactylus ngati sp. nov. can be distinguished from remaining congeners by the following combination of characters: maximum SVL 69.3 mm; dorsal pattern consisting of six dark irregular transverse bands between limb insertions; inter-supranasals one; dorsal tubercles present on occiput, body, hind limbs and on first half of tail; 17–22 irregular dorsal tubercle rows at midbody; lateral folds clearly defined, with interspersed tubercles; 32–38 ventral scales between ventrolateral folds; 13 precloacal pores separated by a diastema of 5/5 poreless scales from a series of 7/7 femoral pores in enlarged femoral scales; precloacal and femoral pores absent in females; 1–3 postcloacal tubercles on each side; transversely enlarged median subcaudal scales absent. In the molecular analyses, the new species is shown to be the sister taxon to C. interdigitalis from Thailand. This is the 47th species of the genus Cyrtodactylus and the first member of the C. brevipalmatus species group recorded from Vietnam.

Vespula akrei Landolt sp. nov. is described from Guatemala. The first record of Vespa crabro L. in Guatemala is given, and Vespula inexspectata Eck from Mexico is re-described. We place Vespula akrei sp. nov. in the Vespula vulgaris (L.) species group (= Paravespula Bluthgen) based on morphology, color pattern, and DNA sequences from two mitochrondrial genes. It is presently known only from the Sierra de las Minas mountain range in southeastern Guatemala.

A new species of Euplocania belonging in the Marginata species group, collected in an area of the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazilian states of Bahia is described and illustrated. It differs from all the other species in the Marginata species group in details of the hypandrium and phallosome. This is the first record of a species in the Marginata species group for the Atlantic Rainforest biome and the first record of a Euplocania species for Brazilian states of Bahia.

A new black fly species, Simulium (Nevermannia) subratai sp. nov., is described on the basis of female, pupal and larval specimens collected from Darjeeling, India. This new species is assigned to the feuerborni species-group of the subgenus Simulium (Nevermannia), and is characterized by the entirely yellow female thorax and the larval abdomen without any colored markings. This is the first record of a black fly species with the adult having an entirely yellow thorax in the Oriental Region.

A new species of leafcutter bee, Megachile (Litomegachile) droegei Sheffield & Genaro, new species, is described from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  Megachile droegei is one of 12 species in this New World subgenus, and is part of the M. brevis species group (with M. brevis Say, M. onobrychidis Cockerell, and M. pseudobrevis Mitchell).  This is the first record of the subgenus Litomegachile from the Antilles.  A diagnosis for distinguishing this species from other species of Litomegachile, and full descriptions of the female and male with illustrations are provided.  In addition, the male of M. pankus Bzdyk is described, and M. cleomis Cockerell is recognized as a valid species (new status) based on 1.45% divergence in COI (cytochrome c oxidase, subunit 1) from M. texana Cresson, and eastern (M. texana) /western (M. cleomis) distributions.  Based on morphological data and COI sequence data, four distinct species groups are recognized within Litomegachile.  Putative synapomorphies that support the monophyly of these groups are also discussed.RESUMEN: Se describe una especie nueva de abeja cortadora de hojas, Megachile (Litomegachile) droegei, para la Bahía de Guantánamo, Cuba.  Megachile droegei es una de las 12 especies pertenecientes al subgénero del Nuevo Mundo, Litomegachile y es parte del grupo de especies de M. brevis (junto a M. brevis Say, M. onobrychidis Cockerell y M. pseudobrevis Mitchell).  Este constituye el primer registro del subgénero Litomegachile para Las Antillas.  Se provee una diagnosis para separar a la especie nueva del resto de las especies del mismo subgénero, asícomo descripciones completas e ilustraciones de ambos sexos.  Además, se describe el macho de M. pankus Bzdyk y se reconoce M. cleomis Cockerell como una especie válida (nuevo estado) basado en una divergencia del COI (citocromo coxidasa, subunidad 1) de 1,45 %, respecto a las distribuciones con M. texana Cresson, y poblaciones del Este (M. texana) /Oeste (M. cleomis).  Basado en datos morfológicos y datos de la secuencia de COI, cuatro grupos de especies son reconocidos en Litomegachile.  Tambiense discuten posibles sinapormofias que apoyan la monofilia de estos grupos.

A new species of the genus Tanytarsus van der Wulp, 1874 was described and illustrated based on an adult male. Tanytarsus trichovalis sp. nov. belongs to the eminulus species group, and is closely related to T. tamaundecimus Sasa, 1980, T. okuboi Sasa, 1986, and T. tonebeceus Sasa & Tanaka, 2000. However, the species is distinguished from these species by the morphology of the hypopygium. We also present the first record of T. ovatus Johannsen, 1932 in Japan. In addition, DNA barcoding of 5 species including T. trichovalis sp. nov., T. ovatus, and other morphologically related species was undertaken. A new key of the eleven Japanese eminulus species group was compiled.

The revision of the Lygephila dorsigera species-group led to the recognition of a number of distinct species which may occur partly sympatrically with each other in the continental SE Asia and the island of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The study of an old Lygephila material from the island of Java and from Flores harboured in the RMNH and recently collected material from Sulawesi preserved in NMPC revealed the presence of an unknown species of the dorsigera group which appears as new for science. This species is described below under the name Lygephila javanica sp. n., the diagnostic comparison is made with Lygephila dorsigera (Walker, 1865). This is the first record of the genus from the Greater Sunda Islands, no records of a Lygephila species is known from Sumatra and Borneo.

A survey of the surf flies (Canacinae) of the main Mascarene Islands of La Réunion, Mauritius, and Rodrigues was undertaken between 2015 and 2018. It encompassed intertidal material from 38 sampling stations on the islands and included records supplied by Martin J. Ebejer from La Réunion. No specimens of surf flies were collected on Rodrigues Is., which lacks suitable rocky shore habitats. A new species of Isocanace Mathis, 1982, that is deemed closely related to I. briani Mathis, 1982 described from Aldabra Is. and Madagascar, is described and figured from Mauritius (I. mauritiana Munari sp. nov.). Nocticanace mahensis (Lamb, 1912) is also reported from La Réunion and Mauritius and Procanace pninae Mathis & Freidberg, 1991 from Mauritius (all representing first records for the islands concerned). The Procanace grisescens species-group is also reported from Mauritius for the first time, representing a first record of this species-group from the Mascarenes. An identification key to Afrotropical species of Isocanace is provided and the distributions of all species are mapped.
