The general control system (GCS) in the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) has a data storage (DS) server that stores operational data on the status of neutron and muon targets in the MLF. It has worked well to detect unusual situations around these target stations and to investigate the causes of accidents by checking data in the DS server for short-term operations. To pick up potential abnormalities in the slight state transitions from the target stations, however, it is necessary to introduce an abnormality sign determination system (ASDS). This ASDS requires an integral data storage (IDS) server that stores various operational data throughout the proton beams, target stations, and secondary beams for long-term operations because it judges potential abnormalities by using algorithms based on analysis of these data. This report describes a present status of the GCS, a conceptual design for the ASDS, and the installation of the IDS server.

Spiral potato peeler and cutter is a machine used to assist the production process of a home-based bussiness in potato processing, starting from the peeling process to the cutting process carried out in one machine frame. The design and construction of the cutting system on spiral potato peeler and cutter machine with a capacity of 15 kg/hour has several objectives, namely being able to make detailed analisis of a spiral potato cutting machine, being able to calculate parts of the machine elements used in parts of the cutting system and being able to did spiral potato machine testing. The methode used in the preparation of this project report is through the VDI 2222 approach which begins with the plan, conceptual, design and completions stages.The results of the calculation of the cutting system elements on the spiral potato peeler and cutter machine include the large diameter of the shaft used is 12,7 mm, the use of 84 watt motor power and the capacity of the cutting system on the spiral potato cutting machine is 15,25 kg/hour.

A newly developed digital scanning electron microscope, the JSM-6300, has the following features: Equipped with a narrower conical objective lens (OL), it allows high resolution images to be obtained easily at a short working distance (WD) and a large specimen tilt angle. In addition, it is provided with automatic functions and digital image processing functions for ease of operation.Conical C-F lens: The newly developed conical C-F objective lens, having low aberration characteristics over a wide WD range, allows a large-diameter (3-inch) specimen to be tilted up to 60° at short WD, and provides images with low magnifications starting at 10*. On the bottom of the lens, a p n junction type detector is provided to detect backscattered electrons (BE) from the specimen. As the narrower conical 0L increases the secondary electron (SE) detector's field intensity on the specimen surface, high SE image quality is obtained.
