Telah dilakukan studi efek doping La terhadap struktur dan kehilangan refleksi menyerap gelombang mikro dari pseudobrookite Fe2TiO5 untuk membentuk senyawa sistem Fe2-xLaxTiO5 dengan mentode ko-presipitasi. Sintesis sistem Fe2-xLaxTiO5 bertujuan untuk membuat material yang dapat berfungsi sebagai peredam paparan gelombang elektromagnetik peralatan elekronik telekomunikasi. Sistem Fe2-xLaxTiO5 (x = 0,01; 0,04 dan 0,2) dibuat dari campuran FeCl3, LaCl3 dan TiCl4 sesuai dengan perbandingan molnya masing-masing. Campuran bahan ini ditambahkan larutan NH4OH sampai dengan pH 12. Endapan yang terbentuk dicuci dengan air deminineral sampai pH 7 dan kemudian dikeringkan pada suhu 100 °C, disinter pada suhu 1000 °C selama 5 jam. Semua sampel dikarakterisasi dengan XRD (X-ray diffractometer) untuk identifikasi fasa, SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) untuk pengamatan morfologi permukaan dan VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) untuk mengukur serapan gelombang mikronya. Hasil identifikasi fasa menunjukkan bahwa komposisi dengan nilai x = 0,01 dan 0,04 terbentuk 2 fasa yaitu fasa Fe2TiO5 dan FeTiO3 sedangkan  komposisi dengan nilai x = 0,2 juga terbentuk 3 fasa yaitu fasa Fe2TiO5, FeTiO3 dan La2Ti2O7. Hasil pengamatan morfologi permukaan dengan SEM-EDS, menunjukkan bahwa distribusi partikel yang tidak seragam karena memiliki beda fasa. Sedangkan hasil pengukuran serapan gelombang mikro dengan VNA menunjukkan bahwa serapan maksimal gelombang mikro diperoleh pada komposisi nilai x = 0,04 (Fe1,96La0,04TiO5) yaitu sekitar 94% pada frekuensi 10,52 GHz.

Urchinlike Ni particles with different spines were synthesized. The microstructures and morphologies of the resulting materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. And the electromagnetic parameters of these urchinlike Ni were measured with vector network analyzer at 2-18 GHz frequency. The results indicate that the electromagnetic parameters are affected by morphologies of materials. The long urchin spines will lead to larger permittivity.

The microstructure of cement test block and the C-S-H gel attacked by magnesium sulfate is observed by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).It is found that the presence of Mg2+ makes C-S-H gel decalcify, dissolve and decompose, which thereby increasing the erosion of SO42- on the concrete. The decomposition of C-S-H and the generation of M-S-H result in the loss of concrete strength and the ultimate destruction of concrete.

This work presents the results of treatments by CO2laser of automotive rings covered with carbon black slurry, aiming to improve the friction rate and the ring lifetime. The results of this treatment were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Vickers hardness, ball on disk test and X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy. The scanning electron microscopy showed that the laser treated area extent reaches near to 120 μm depth. The measured hardness was about 950 HV0,05and the friction coefficient lower than 0.2. The energy dispersive spectroscopy along the treated cross section showing carbon diffusion into the metallic substrate.

Urchinlike Ni particles with different length and quantity spines were successful synthesized. The microstructures and morphologies of the resulting materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The amount of N2H4H2O plays an important role in the morphology of urchin. The electromagnetic parameters of these urchinlike Ni were measured with vector network analyzer at 2-18 GHz frequency. The results indicate that the microwave absorbing properties are improved by the urchin structure.

Scanning electron microscopy applied to the mycelial phase of Sporothrix schenckii shows a matted mycelium with conidia of a regular pattern. X-Ray microanalysis applied in energy dispersive spectroscopy and also in wavelength dispersive spectroscopy reveals the presence of several elements of Mendeleef's classification.
