Abstract This paper addresses the limitations of existing Solar Envelope (SE) methods to explore the trade-offs of solar radiation and urban shading, and to simultaneously account for several different Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). It offers an alternative parametric workflow - the Solar Block Generator (SBG) - which is based on an additive voxelization method by which multiple solar-driven massing alternatives are generated and evaluated for a given site, corresponding to a set of user-defined environmental KPIs. This method is tested here on an urban redevelopment case study in the Mediterranean (Tel Aviv). The results help achieve a more holistic approach for solar driven urban design.

This research conducted to examine the causal effects of two dimensional design of print advertisement communication personality in tutoring course education institution base on brand personality that beneficially applied toward tutoring education institution brand image. After conducting observation of three groups of participants with different information advertisement treatment i.e., sincerity personality, excitement personality and control group, in the longitudinal three weeks experiment using One-Way ANOVA randomized block design analysis, gathered in the context of case study. It is proven that sincerity advertisement treatment is not appropriate to apply in making information and advertisement design for this case if publish more than one time broadcast. Contrarily, for the excitement personality form of advertisement treatment appear to increase influence on the brand image aggregate for three weeks, means excitement personality design of advertisement will strengthened the three hits theory. These research outcomes, when applied to education institution will providers, will help in designing appropriate personality form of information and communication of advertisement.

When studying rockfall phenomena, a single value of the block volume is not sufficient to take into account the natural variability of the geometrical features (orientation, spacing, persistence) of the discontinuity sets. Different approaches for obtaining cumulative distributions of potentially detachable block volumes are compared. A highly fractured rock mass outcropping along the western Lake Garda (Italy), consisting of prevailing limestone and interbedded marls, is studied in detail from geological and geostructural points of view. Then, a representative rock face has been selected and analyzed with traditional and non-contact survey methods to identify the main discontinuity sets and to collect spacing samples. Based on these data, in situ block size distributions for different combinations of sets are built following statistically-based approaches, without the use of a Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) generator. The validation of the obtained distributions is attempted based on the detached block surveyed at the foot of the slope. However, in this particular case study, the detached blocks cover only a minimal volume range compared to both theoretical values and visible rockfall scars. The fallen rock blocks have a marginal role in design block determination, since their volume depends on geological discontinuities (bedding and fractures) and could be affected by other processes after the detachment (e.g., fragmentation). The procedure here described should be standard practice in the study of rockfall events, and it should be uniform in European standards such as Eurocodes. Future developments should involve the scientific community for setting the percentiles of the probability distribution to be considered for block design definition.

The field of sustainable development can be conceptually broken into three constituent parts: environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and sociopolitical sustainability. This paper uses the case study of Wuhan Shouyi area residential block urban design, discusses the concept of sustainable development of residential block urban design. In the current trend of residential district design, this paper may be able to lead to some better residential block planning design.
