In this Paper, the analysis of simply supported laminated composite beam having uniformly distributed load is performed. The solutions obtained in the form of the displacements and stresses for different layered cross ply laminated composite simply supported beams subjected uniformly distributed to load. Different aspect ratio consider for different results in terms of displacement, bending stress and shear stresses. The shear stresses are calculated with the help of equilibrium equation and constitutive relationship. Using displacement field including trigonometric function of laminated composite beams are derived from virtual displacement principle. There are axial displacement, transverse displacement, bending stress and shear stresses. In addition, Euler-Bernoulli (ETB), First order shear deformation beam theory (FSDT), Higher order shear deformation beam theory (HSDT) and Hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory (HYSDT) solution have been made for comparison and better accuracy of solutions and results of static analyses of laminated composite beams for simply supported laminated composite beam.

AbstractThe free vibration analysis of generally laminated composite beam (LCB) with a delamination is presented using the finite element method (FEM). The effect of material couplings (bending-tension, bending-twist, and tension-twist couplings) with the effects of shear deformation, rotary inertia, and Poisson’s effect are taken into account. To verify the validity and the accuracy of this study, the numerical solutions are presented and compared with the results from available references and very good agreement observed. Furthermore, the effects of some parameters such as slenderness ratio, the rotary inertia, the shear deformation, material anisotropy, ply configuration, and delamination parameters on the natural frequency of the delaminated beam are examined.

In this work, using new inverse trigonometric kinematic displacement function, the bending solution of simply supported isotropic and transversely isotopic thin, moderately thin and thick square plates with aspect ratio variations is given. The paper introduces a new inverse trigonometric shear deformation theory (nITSDT) for the bi-directional bending study, which is variationally compatible. The transverse shear stress can be obtained directly from the constitutive relationships on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate that satisfy the shear stress free surface conditions, so the theory does not need a factor for shear correction. The dynamic version of the virtual work principle is used to obtain the governing equations and boundary conditions of the theory. The Finite Element (FE) solution has been developed using MATLAB code based on the present theory for simply supported laminated composite plates. In order to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed theory, the results of displacements and stresses are compared with those of other refined theories and exact solution. The findings obtained from the use of the theory are found to agree well with the precise results of elasticity.

Sinusoidal shear deformation theory is presented to analyze the natural frequencies of simply supported laminated composite plates. The governing differential equations based on sinusoidal theory are solved by a Navier-type analytical method. The present results are compared with the available published results which verify the accuracy of sinusoidal theory.

The strength of the conventional composite plates can be enhanced by the use of additional fillers. These composite plates are often subjected to dynamic loading conditions which necessitate the study of their static and dynamic behavior. In this study, laminated composite plates (LCP) are fabricated by open layup process with epoxy as a base resin, E-glass fiber as reinforcement, and fillers: flyash and graphene. The fillers are included in order to improve the mechanical properties of the composite. The filler content in the composite is limited to 5% of the total volume. The weight percentage of fiber combined with fillers, treated as reinforcing constituents is limited to 60%. Graphene and flyash are added in different proportions to develop different kinds of LCPs. The free and forced vibrations of LCPs (using simple support end conditions) are measured by an indigenously developed low-cost vibration testing module. The experimental results have been used to validate the results obtained from the mathematical modeling by using fifth-order shear deformation theory and finite element approaches. Additionally, the effect of existing discontinuity in the LCP is studied. Circular holes of different dimensions at different locations are simulated in the numerical model and the consequences on modal frequencies are analyzed.

In the present study, a 5th order shear deformation theory (5th OSDT) is presented for free vibration analysis of simply supported thick isotropic plates. Governing equations and boundary conditions are evaluated using the concept of virtual work. Numerical results for free vibration analysis include the effects of side to thickness and plate aspect ratios for simply supported thick isotropic plates. Non-dimensional bending mode frequencies, non-dimensional thickness shear mode frequencies and non-dimensional thickness stretch mode frequencies are obtained. Closed form analytical solutions for simply supported isotropic thick plates subjected to single sinusoidal distributed loads are obtained for comparison purpose. The problems considered in this study are solved using MATLAB software. Non-dimensional bending frequencies and non-dimensional thickness shear mode frequencies obtained through the 5th OSDT match well with the exact analytical and exponential shear deformation theory (ESDT) results. Further, the non-dimensional thickness stretch mode frequencies are found to be imaginary.

In this paper for the first time, active vibration control of rotating laminated composite cylindrical shells embedded with magnetostrictive layers as actuators by means of first-order shear deformation theory is studied. Vibration equations of the rotating shell are extracted using Hamilton principle considering the effects of initial hoop tension, Coriolis, and centrifugal forces. The vibration differential equations are reduced to algebraic ones through Galerkin method. The validity of the study is proved by the comparison of some results with the literature results. Eventually, the influence of several parameters on damping characteristics and vibration responses are investigated in detail.
