Granular cell tumors are uncommon tumors of uncertain etiology. It accounts for approximately 0.5% of all soft tissue tumors. However, the involvement of skin is rare. Only few cases of cutaneous granular cell tumor is reported till date. Here, we present a case of cutaneous granular cell tumor in a 48 years female patient.

A granular cell tumor is an unusual benign soft tissue neoplasm, occurring in the tongue, oral cavity or subcutaneous tissue and rarely occurs in the breast. We report a case of 44 years old male, who presented with a swelling in the right breast since 7 years measuring 6 x 4 cm. Fine needle aspiration cytology was suggestive of low grade carcinoma and on histopathologic examination, it was diagnosed as granular cell tumour, with S-100 immunopositivity.   Keywords: Granular cell tumour; Male breast; S-100 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/jpn.v1i2.5414 JPN 2011; 1(2): 161-163

Granular cell tumor is a rare benign neoplasm of the skin that accounts for 0.5% of all soft-tissue tumors. Granular cell tumor can affect both sexes and in any age, although it is most common in females. The common locations are the head and neck, the tongue is affected in 25% of cases but any internal organs can be affected such as soft tissue, bronchus, stomach, rectum, anus, biliary ducts. Here, we report a 58-year-old female patient who presented with a 4-year history of a slowly growing mass, with a dimension of 5 × 4 cm on her left waist, diagnosed as a Granular cell tumor at histopathological examination.

We present a rare case of a lipoleiomyoma which was discovered incidentally in a hysterectomy specimen of a 74-year old female patient who underwent surgery for a biopsy proven serous adenocarcinoma of the uterus. Lipoleiomyomas represent uncommon, usually benign soft-tissue tumors, generally found in obese menopausal as well as postmenopausal women aged 50 to 70 years. The reported incidence varies from 0.03\% to 0.2\%. The relationship between lipoleiomyomas and gynecologic malignancies has only been reported in a few cases. We report this case of lipoleiomyoma due to its rarity and its association with a serous adenocarcinoma in our patient.

Our aim is to present the case report of a woman affected by tracheal granular cell tumor analysed by multiphasic contrast-enhanced multidetector CT. The tumor presents as polypoid lesion (diameter 13 mm), with smooth and well-defined margins, elevated contrast enhancement in arterial phase, and a modest release of contrast in venous phase. This pattern is quite different from the other tracheal tumours. We have performed a comprehensive review of literature to assess all cases of granular cell tumors of the trachea; only 40 cases are reported. Of these, no one focused on the contrast enhancement aspect, so our work is the first showing a specific pattern in multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) of the tracheal granular cell tumour and may help in differential diagnosis.
