Tourism and hospitality sector in Tanzania contributes to 18 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and about 10 percent employment rate in the country. However, industry professionals are complaining about the quality of human resource from training institutions. While some authors have addressed the quality of human resources in relation to graduates’ skills possession using the managers, trainers and the nature of services they render, the researcher could not find a study that has addressed the issue in relation to programme design from the trainers, heads of department and hotel managers. This study was set to answer the main research question: How is VET hospitality programme designed to contribute to skills development among the graduates in Arusha region? The study employed convergent design to assess VET hospitality programme design in developing skills among the graduates. Participants were obtained through simple random sampling of training institutions and purposive sampling of hotels belonging to HAT in Arusha region. Data were collected through semi structured interview with the hotel managers and heads of department, structured interview with the trainers and content analysis of programme document. Data were analyzed by transcription of data from the interviews. Programme activities were used to analyze the collected data and used for data interpretation. Interpretation and discussion of data analysis results were summarized and compared with the reviewed literature and theories. The findings for this study indicated that VET programme for Food and Beverages Service and Sales and Front Office Operations are well designed to enhance skills development among the graduates and if well implemented should lead to the acquisition of hospitality knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. English and communication skills, as a supporting course needs to be structured for implementers to understand designated learning outcomes, learning activities, teaching and training methods and assessment activities.

Pendidikan kejuruan diyakini memiliki konstribusi yang besar bagi perkembangan masyarakat dan peningkatan ekonomi suatu negara. Daya saing negara bergantung banyak pada tenaga kerja yang memilik pengetahuan dan keterampilan, karena mereka akan meningkatkan efisiensi dan nilai tambah produksi. Pendidikan dan latihan kejuruan pada hakekat adalah sebagai tempat untuk menyiapkan tenaga kerja berpengetahuan, berketerampilan, dan berkepribadian bagi memenuhi harapan dunia kerja dan industri. Tetapi kondisi riil menunjukkan banyak lulusan pendidikan kejuruan yang tidak memperoleh kerja, bahkan mereka yang telah bekerjapun menghadapi masalah keterampilan. Bekal pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang mereka miliki tidak cukup untuk dapat sustain dalam lingkungan kerja. Hal itu salah satunya disebabkan karena tenaga kerja tidak memiliki employability skills yang cukup seperti permintaan dunia kerja. A competitiveness of the nation depends on quality of human resource in term of knowledge, skills, attitude. Vocational education and training basically is provided for preparing youth to have knowledge, skills, and characteristics to meet the requirements of work place. However, in fact Vocational High School leavers are unemployed, and the employed even face skills problems. Their knowledges, skills, and attitudes are under standard of work place requirements and incapable of sustaining hie/her current position in the work place. One of the reasons is because they don’t have enough employability skills to fulfil work place requirements. Therefore, vocational training institutions are required to anticipate firmly to developing the work place by employing learning strategies in order to have flexibilty due to a rapid changing of work place requirements.

Quality outcomes from vocational education and training (VET) are fundamental to ensuring a skilled workforce and supporting a productive economy. The quality of vocational training from the demand’s perspective is defined as meeting the customer specification, needs or requirements. Using the method of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Multiple Regression Analysis to get the analytical results of 275 respondents as graduates of University of Transport and Communication, University of Transport Technology (the two universities training on transportation in the North of Vietnam), the results show that factors are measured by the observed variables in the study that ensure reliability and relevance. The descriptive statistics result of vocational training quality is 3.28, while all independent variables are at average level (between 3.1 to 3.48) with the highest value related to the quality of the teacher and the lowest are facilities and training programs and management capacity of university. However, the regression results show that the qualification of the teacher, material facilities and training program, management capacity and job opportunities at the training school do not affect the quality of the training while “Learners-NH” have a great positive effect and the labor market information has a negative effect on the training quality of the school significantly. Base on those data, some policy recommendations have been given out in order to improve the training quality of transport technology universities in the north of Vietnam in particular and the vocational training quality of Vietnam in general.

TVET is a significant component in the scheme of things when we refer to India as a ‘young nation' with 28 (twenty-eight) million population of youth being added every year and in future about 90 (ninety) per cent of employment opportunities may require vocational skills in collaboration with industry. It can link competence of youth with Industry needs. Bringing Vocational Training closer to the needs of dynamically changing and evolving markets can help young people move into more productive and sustainable jobs. The industrial and market trends clearly indicate the necessity of strengthening the vocational education in India. The basic objective of this paper is to assess and describe the Role of Industry in ensuring quality of TVET so as to bridge the gap between actual and perceived quality of manpower. It also summarizes the factors influencing employability in present Indian and International scenario and its problems. This paper focuses on the relevance of Technical, Vocational Education and Training to specialized industry and economics demanding higher level of skills.

This study examined the current state of careers advice, guidance, and counselling (CAGC) services and programmes in the technical, vocational education, and training (TVET) system of Nigerian higher education institutions (HEIs). This was to determine how well current CAGC services and programmes foster students’ career development, aspirations, and choices. Forty-eight participants, who were members of the Nigerian National Board for Technical Education (8 participants), guidance counsellors (6), university TVET teachers (18), career experts from the National Directorate of Employment (7), and newly employed TVET graduates (9), volunteered for the study. A purposeful sampling procedure was adopted to recruit participants. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview approach, and we employed a thematic design for the coding and analysis of the transcribed data. The study found no CAGC services and programmes in the TVET system. It is recommended, therefore, that TVET systems should focus on providing career development enhanced learning rather than schooling only by revising the curriculum to include programmes and activities that promote CAGC activities and programmes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has tremendously changed private and professional interactions and behaviors worldwide. The effects of this pandemic and the actions taken have changed our healthcare systems, which consequently has affected medical education and surgical training. In the face of constant disruptions of surgical education and training during this pandemic outbreak, structured and innovative concepts and adapted educational curricula are important to ensure a high quality of medical treatment. While efforts were undertaken to prevent viral spreading, it is important to analyze and assess the effects of this crisis on medical education, surgical training and teaching at large and certainly in the field of surgical oncology. Against this background, in this paper we introduce practical and creative recommendations for the continuity of students’ and residents’ medical and surgical training and teaching. This includes virtual educational curricula, skills development classes, video-based feedback and simulation in the specialty field of surgical oncology. In conclusion, the effects of COVID 19 on Surgical Training and Teaching, certainly in the field of Surgical Oncology, are challenging.

The implementation of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum requires some level of government commitment because of it nature and important towards reducing unemployment. Technical vocational education is a skill acquisition intervention programs that target about learning wisdom which would make people appropriate and productive in designated areas of economic and technological activities. In order to meet the demand of this 21st century implementation of technical vocational education curriculum in Nigeria must in totality be overhauled by ensuring that what is needed to achieve its goal is put in place for positive outcome.  This paper discusses the concept of technical vocational education and training and it’s important towards job creation, the nature of technical vocational education curriculum in technical vocational education institutions, technical vocational education curriculum implementation and the impediments of Technical vocational education curriculum implementation in Nigeria. It was concluded that TVET curriculum implementation faced a lots of challenges. Therefore, all stakeholders in the technical vocational education sub-sector should put hands in deck in order to improve the quality of technical vocational education programs implementation in Nigeria for better outcome

This article is about the importance of collaboration in the development of teacher professionalism, and we have asked the research question: How can group collaboration between vocational education and training (VET) students contribute to the development of their teacher professionalism? The data basis is interviews with ten VET students in practical pedagogical education for vocational teachers that we conducted in the winter of 2020. In addition, we studied all internship documents that the ten students produced during the internship period. The students are in practical training at their own school with their own students and collaborate with each other to strengthen their own teacher role. We have applied Dale’s (1989, 1993, 2001) theory of teacher professionalism. To analyse collaboration, we used the theories of Hegel (1999), Honneth (2008, 2009), Barth (1994) and De Hei et al. (2018). We found that this internship made it possible for students to talk and reflect on didactic questions related to Dale’s three areas of expertise.
