Investigation of the structural and functional reliability of the motion control and navigation system of a small spacecraft in the conditions of its multi-mode operation

In the course of the design, creation and application of complex multi-mode systems, which undoubtedly include the motion control system of small spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth, when choosing the configuration of elements and connections between them, as well as the parameters of the system, it is advisable to explore the possibilities of using dynamic operation modes significantly affecting the structural and functional reliability of the system. Based on the new original concept of the parametric genome of the complex multi-mode object structure, introduced by the authors, the article describes the results of the studies of the influence of various options for activating the modes of operation on the structural and functional reliability of the motion control and navigation system of the small spacecraft “Aist-2D”. To assess the structural and functional reliability of the system under study integral indicators have been introduced. At the same time, the possibility of involving joint activation of the modes of operation, the equivalence of the intensities of utilizing the activation of the modes of operation and the homogeneity of the traffic control system were taken into account.

В статье рассмотрены особенности выхода экраноплана на динамический экран и проанализированы действия экипажа по управлению режимами работы двигателей с поворотными соплами и закрылками. Показано, что при организации автоматического управления этими органами взлёт аппарата может обеспечить один пилот средней квалификации. Посадка экраноплана достаточно сложна и опасна из-за возникающего дифферента экраноплана и потери устойчивости. Существенно упрощает посадку использование системы управления движением. Специфика управления движением экраноплана в полёте обусловлена узким диапазоном перепада высот и незначительным изменением углов тангажа. В этом режиме реализуются небольшие потребные углы перекладки исполнительных органов, а также проявляется существенная зависимость от высоты полета, как аэродинамических характеристик, так и характеристик устойчивости и управляемости. Проанализированы особенности управления движением экраноплана в аварийных ситуациях: при отказах главных двигателей, рулевых агрегатов, сигнальных устройств и отдельных каналов управления. Выработаны рекомендации, обеспечивающие безопасность движения экраноплана, направленные на включение в систему управления дополнительных систем, исполнительных механизмов и приборов указателей. Предлагается предусмотреть в системе управления движением устройство локализации отказов, автоматически отключающее аварийные подканалы и исполнительные механизмы.The article describes the features of the ekranoplanes output to the dynamic screen and analyzes the actions of the crew to control the operating modes of engines with rotary nozzles and flaps. It is shown that when organizing automatic control of these bodies, the take-off of the device can be provided by one pilot of average qualification. Landing ekranoplan is quite difficult and dangerous because of the resulting trim ekranoplan and loss of stability. The use of a motion control system significantly simplifies landing. The specifics of controlling the movement of the ekranoplane in flight is due to a narrow range of altitude differences and a slight change in pitch angles. In this mode, small required corners of the Executive bodies are implemented, and a significant dependence on the flight height, both aerodynamic characteristics, and stability and controllability characteristics is shown. The features of controlling the movement of the ekranoplane in emergency situations are analyzed: in case of failures of the main engines, steering units, signaling devices and individual control channels. Recommendations were developed to ensure the safety of the ekranoplane movement, aimed at including additional systems, actuators and indicator devices in the control system. It is proposed to provide a fault localization device in the traffic control system that automatically disables emergency subchannels and actuators.

At the stages of design, creation and application of small spacecraft to develop solutions aimed at increasing their stability, it is necessary to assess the indicators of structural and functional reliability of elements of onboard systems, taking into account the involvement of various modes of operation. This article presents the results of a study of the influence of confi gurations of sensors of the attitude control system on the structural and functional reliability of a small spacecraft when solving task of determining the attitude in various modes of operation.

This paper, based on an earlier one presented at the Eastbourne Convention in May 1964, discusses certain aspects of S.S.T. performance and its bearing on the design of the air navigation system and on the air traffic control system. The requirement is established for a navigation system capable of directing the S.S.T. at minimum economic penalty and within the limits imposed by air traffic control and sonic boom considerations. The system should also be able to determine estimated time of arrival, fuel remaining, and altitude for any randomly chosen point along the flight path; to derive the time of arrival at a particular altitude and, for a selected time of arrival at a chosen position and altitude, give the deceleration and other necessary command information.
