The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project was designed for use by an accounting information systems (AIS) class. Along the tasks in the SDLC, this project integrates students’ knowledge of transaction and business processes, systems documentation techniques, relational database concepts, and hands-on skills in relational database use. After completing this project, students will comprehend major steps in the process of designing, developing, and implementing a database application. Instructors can add additional and/or modify any requirements and elements based on their emphases in the process, as well as align the tasks according to the systems design approach used in the textbook. This project is constructed on the Systems Understanding Aid (SUA) manual case of Arens and Ward (2001). However, instructors can adopt any case by using the project as a template. This project can be used as a semester final project, split into parts, worked along with the systems development topics covered in class, or assigned to a second AIS course.

The Omni Furniture Company Case was created to help students enrolled in an accounting information systems (AIS) course further their understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) by thinking through all stages of the development process. Omni is a privately held company that has found a market niche by assembling several models of simple yet durable desks, tables, and chairs for use in offices. After several years in business, Omni has recently experienced tremendous growth that has resulted in cash flow and production scheduling problems. Susan and Barry Omni, the owners of the company, realize that the information system they have been using is outdated and needs to be improved. No one in the company has the time or ability to develop such a system and so a business consulting firm has been hired to develop the new system. Each business consulting team is required to (1) design a system that will solve Omni's cash flow and production scheduling information needs and (2) use an appropriate software package to actually implement the system. Teams do not design a system that processes transactions; data should be manually entered into an appropriate software package such as Access or Excel. All tables must be linked so that one change in the data affects all of the information presented in all of the reports.

We present a novel hands-on approach for teaching students the concepts and business processes of transaction cycles. Specifically, the hands-on activities focus on sales and procurement cycles. Upon completion of the hands-on activities, students will a) develop a better understanding of the business processes and business forms for sales and procurement cycles and b) build relevant critical thinking skills. We evaluate students’ learning by providing a comparison between students who learned the concepts of transaction cycles and business processes and performed the transaction cycle hands-on activity in class versus those students who only learned the concepts of transaction cycles and business processes in class. Although the hands-on activities were used in an accounting information systems class, they can also be applied to other business disciplines, such as engineering and project management classes.

The objective of this study is to obtain evidence regarding description of the accounting  information  system  and  problems  faced  by  PT  Molay  Satrya Indonesia,   to   analyze   steps   required   for   the   development   of   accounting information system that is integrated in the PT Molay Satrya Indonesia based on   Systems  Development  Life  Cycle  (SDLC), and  challenges  that  may  be encountered  in  the  development  of  integrated  accounting  information  system based on the  Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method. The development method used in this research was Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The study  has  been  done  in  two  stages  which  were  analysis  and  conceptual design. This research was used qualitative case study method with data collection. The  data  analysis  used  in  this  study     field  study,  which  were  included interviewing, observation, and documentation which has been analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion. Based on the results of data analysis, information systems owned by PT Molay Satrya Indonesia had not fully integrated between divisions. The next steps required in the development of an integrated accounting system at PT Molay Satrya Indonesia is to identify and evaluate design  alternatives  that  exist.  After  deciding  alternative designs,  PT Molay Satrya Indonesia to decide how to meet the needs of the system. There are three ways to do that is to buy the software, develop their own software, and outsourcing system. Challenges faced in the development of a system that is a challenge to human resources, investment, strategic business, technology infrastructure, and supervision and liability.

The research goal is to identify and analyze the need of accounting information system related to the revenue cycle at PT XYZ. This paper designing the useful of accounting information systems to support the current business processes, especially on the revenue cycle process. The design method is an Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) which refers to the modeling and design requirements discipline. And the result achieved by analysis and design of accounting information systems can support current activities of the revenue cycle, especially for the documentation and store of transaction data, and generate reports in accordance with company requirements. Conclusions derived from the analysis and design is the implementation of a webbased application that can help PT XYZ to do the work in different places, such as marketing office, head office and especially at the exhibition. Index Terms - Accounting Information System, revenue cycle, OOAD
