Characterization of tomato germplasm on the basis of tomato description was conducted of the Lembang Vegetables Government Research Institute. (1250 m asl), in the dry season 2003. Twenty five accession were observed, each accessions 20 plants were planted per plot with the distance 70 x 50 cm. Plants were fertilizer at the rate of 30 t/ha stable manure and 1000 kg/ha NPK applied two days before planting. Description of those accessions was determined for further use in breeding programme.

Characterization of Ipomoea reptans germplasm collection were done in order to describe the accessions and to utilize as working collection materials for breeding program. Description was aimed to identify the new collections of 15 accessions I. reptans which were taken from IVEGRI (Indonesia Vegetable Goverment Research Institute) germplasm collection. The experiment was carried out in Subang station (100 m asl) in dry season 2002. Each accession were planted 40 plant per plot of I. reptans with plant distance 20 x 30 cm. The plants of were fertilized with stable manure 20 t/ha and NPK (15 : 15 : 15) 500 kg/ha. The result of the study was a description of genetic resources that will be exchanged and utilized in breeding for high yielding varieties of I. reptans with better quality.

Abstract. Soelistijono R, Utami DS, Daryanti, Faizin M, Dian R. 2020. Plankton biodiversity in various typologies of inundation in Paminggir swamp, South Kalimantan, Indonesia on dry season. Biodiversitas 21: 1007-1011. This study aims to determine the morphological and anatomical characteristics of Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae associated with the roots of five Dendrobium species; to determine the association between Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae with the root of five Dendrobium sp.; to obtain difference between Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae with the other in adjacent location Mycorrhizal observations of Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae in this study were carried out macroscopically (morphologically) and microscopically (anatomically). The macroscopic observation was performed by observing directly the development of fungal colonies on culture media. Microscopic observations were performed to determine the shape of the hyphal of fungi and the number of nuclei. The results showed that the Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae associated with the root of five species of Dendrobium sp. in Java were the binucleate Rhizoctonia groups (BNR). The binucleate Rhizoctonia has white colonies, right-angle branching hyphae, two nuclei, and brown hyphae. The association of the root of five species of Dendrobium sp.with Rhizoctonia-like mycorrhizae fungi was indicated by the existence of a peloton structure in cortical root tissue.

Vietnamese lacquers collected every month from June to March of next year were characterized. Composition analysis showed that lacquer collected in rainy season contained much water, while those collected in dry season contained more lipid component. Although hardness of lacquer films is not very hard, lacquers tapped in all seasons can reach hard dry (HD) within 48 hours. Refining lacquer can accelerate drying time but the water concentration should be maintained around 10 wt% for laccase activity.

In the grounds of the Medical Research Institute at Yaba, near Lagos, some 200 yards north-east of the laboratories there is a swamp, roughly circular, its diameter being about 20 yards. Until the present year, since first coming under observation in 1908, it has been definitely a pond, formerly used for watering cattle; small in the dry season, it sometimes assumed the dimensions of a lake in the rainy season. While it was a pond it harboured at least three different kinds of fish, and except for a few Anopheline larvae on rare occasions it was not a suitable breeding-place for mosquitos owing to the activities of the fish.

Herein, a forced convection solar fish dryer is designed, constructed and characterized to yield a better main of drying fish. The designed dryer incorporated a heat storage unit which complimented the drying rate of the product during off sunshine hours. The device was characterized during raining and dry seasons and results clearly indicated the influence of seasonal variation on the performance of the device. Average hourly variation of the dryer and ambient temperatures measured on the selected days of the different months of measurement during the two seasons, clearly indicated that temperatures were significantly enhanced by the device. This was due to the high ability of the designed solar collector to trap large amount of long waves. Maximum dryer and ambient temperatures during raining season were measured to be (58.9±2) oC and (40±2) oC whereas, (73.5±1.3) oC and (45±1.8) oC respectively, were measured during the dry season. Average daily moisture loss from the drying fish was notably high, especially during dry season which was due to the high dryer temperatures and decrease in atmospheric humidity. The efficiency of the solar dryer was estimated to be 76 %. The fishes with initial moisture content of 87 % was dried to 13 %. This moisture content is in range with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Standard DDP-19 concerning the marketing and commercial quality control of dried fish.
