The progress so far with the Journal has more than justified the Spirit evoked by the European Bologna Process and the key role played by the Tuning founders and activists in their endeavor to enable Higher Education Institutions to address the challenges of this Century. They have helped contribute to the necessary reforms of the European Higher Education Space. Tuning commenced with aspirations to facilitate student centred learning underpinned by effective pedagogy, stakeholder engagement and the achievement of quality assured competence-based education. What is crucial in the Tuning vision, particularly as it is now literally sharing experience within the global community, is the commitment to avoid uniformity, celebrate diversity, recognize points of convergence and find opportunities to share good practices. In true academic fashion, we must be ever ready for debate and deliberation.Published online: 29 November 2019

This article provides an external stakeholder perspective on the influence of higher education in Sweden, exploring their views on curriculum development and quality work at the programme level. Semi-structured interviews with a selected number of representatives of external stakeholders involved in various educational areas were conducted at seven higher education institutions. The participants argued that changes in their business sectors, and subsequent changes in the knowledge and skills in the labour needed, should encourage higher education institutions to adjust and develop their programmes. They did not anticipate or demand immediate changes in response to their comments, nor did they see themselves as a part of any quality assurance scheme. Uncertainties about the internal decision-making process and organisation in higher education institutions apparently do not facilitate external stakeholders’ understanding of their role in the larger scheme. However, all informants had comments on quality in higher education, perceiving it predominantly as something connected to the world of work. The practical implication of this study is that curriculum development at higher education institutions would benefit from communicating the internal decision-making processes to external stakeholders and agreeing on the expectations with them, in collaboration.

Choice of profession is a social phenomenon that every person has to face in life. Numerous studies convince us that not only the well-being of a person depends on the chosen work, but also his attitude to himself and life in general, therefore, the right and timely professional choice is very important. Research about factors of career self-determination of students of higher education institutions in Ukraine shows that self-determination is an important factor in the socialization of young person, and the factors that determine students' career choices become an actual problem of nowadays. The present study involved full-time and part-time students of Institute of Philology and Mass Communications of Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine" in order to examine the factors of career self-determination of students of higher education institutions (N=189). Diagnostic factors of career self-determination of students studying in the third and fourth year were carried out using the author's questionnaire. Processing of obtained data was carried out using the Excel 2010 program; factorial and comparative analysis were applied. Results of the study showed that initial stage of career self-determination falls down on the third and fourth studying year at the university, when an image of future career and career orientations begin to form. At the same time, the content of career self-determination in this period is contradictory and uncertain, therefore, the implementation of pedagogical support of this process among students is effective.

This study aims to analyze the effect of reputation, competence on customer loyalty with customer satisfaction as an intervening variable. The population in this study were students of private tertiary institutions in Central Java who are members of Services for Higher Education Institutions Region VI, while a sample of 5 private universities, using the purposive sampling method, was taken with the Slovin formula of 190 respondents. The analysis technique uses regression analysis. Research results show the customer satisfaction variable can be an intervening variable or able to mediate between the direct influence of the reputation variable and the competency variable on customer loyalty variables.
