Solar energy is one of the most potent sources of energy. In the wake of depleting fossil fuel energy sources and growing environmental concerns, world is in a relentless drive towards utilizing natural resources like sun efficiently. The aim of the project is to make the solar module work in MPPT mode (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Mode. At this condition, the system is able to extract maximum power from the module without affecting the PV module. MPPT control here is obtained using boost converter. Applying PWM with proper controlling algorithm will vary the duty ratio of the converter such that system will run in MPP mode.

A derivation calculation methods for the maximum power point tracking is proposed in this paper. This method is the direct calculation method for the maximum power point tracking, through the calculation of the derivative value of the power to voltage, adjust the change values of occupies emptiescompared, which is used to deduce the voltage and current value, judge whether the derivative of the power to the voltage is zero, if it is ture, the maximum power point is got. Hardware is used the method to regulate the duty ratio of PWM in DC/DC boost circuit ,though once sampling, it can calculate the value of voltage and the duty ratio at maximum power point. The prototype experiments using DSP2812 chip verify that the inverter can better realize the most power tracing, high accuracy, and the system has the high stability.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are gaining importance increasingly as it directly converts solar radiation into electrical energy which is renewable and environment friendly. Where it has a numerous advantage, some disadvantages are also there like its dependency on environmental conditions. The power developed by solar panel decreases if it does not get uniform radiation. Sometimes due to nearby buildings, passing clouds etc. PV module might be partially shaded because of which power output of solar panel may get decrease this is called partial shading conditions. It causes significant reduction in the system power output. To overcome this, maximum power point-tracking under partial shading condition by continuous duty cycle variation schemes have been proposed, in which dc–dc boost converters are connected to PV module to enable maximum power extraction. In this paper a new method of Duty Sweep Maximum Power Point Tracking (DSMPPT) has been implanted, which is capable of tracking the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) in the presence of other local maxima. The proposed scheme tracks Maximum Power Point (MPP) by continuous variation of converter’s duty cycle without the use of costly components such as signal converters and microprocessors thereby increasing the compactness of the system.

Photovoltaic (PV) modules experience some partial shading conditions (PSC) due to some various factors. In that kind of a condition, a few maximum power points (MPPs) possibly appear on the power-voltage (P-V) curve, which increases the tracking difficulties. It is known that maximum power point tracking (MPPT) may not be realized by hill climbing (HC) based conventional MPPT algorithms under PSCs. In this context, this paper presents a novel micro converter based algorithm that was developed by using P-V characteristics of PV modules. Unlike voltage or duty ratio scanning techniques, this paper introduces a new deciding method to determine the correct global MPP (GMPP) region. For this, the proposed method uses some duty ratios that were calculated corresponding to each MPP region. Thus, the initialization of duty ratio is done properly, which results in high tracking speed and accurate tracking of the GMPP. The other advantages of the proposed algorithm are structural simplicity, less computational burden, and ease of implementation with a basic microcontroller. The simulation results show that this algorithm has fast tracking capability and it manages to track GMPP for PSCs correctly, since it includes an artificial scanning procedure. Single ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) is built in order to validate the proposed global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) algorithm. The performance of the proposed GMPPT technique is verified by experimental studies. The results show that the proposed GMPPT technique is fast by up to five times than an adaptive full scanning strategy and improved IC algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can be commercially used in micro converters, since it is compatible with small number of bypass diodes in a module.

Controlling the PV array to generate the maximum power at certain environment conditions, the efficiency of the PV generation system could be improved. Using control algorithms, the PV array can operate at the maximum power point. This self-optimization process is referred as Maximum power point tracking (MPPT). A maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is a power electronic DC-DC converter inserted between the PV array and its load to achieve optimum matching. Researchers have studied and developed numerous methods and used many algorithms to track the Maximum power point of PV Module and extract maximum power using MPPT technique. This review article accumulates various algorithms through which MPPT could be attained and assists the researchers to understand the principle of their working. The paper also gives an idea to about less explored DC appliances and their viabilities in existing and proposed DC system.
