Porella is a large genus with 86 currently accepted species. China is its center of diversity. Two narrowly distributed taxa, Porella densifolia var. robusta and P. longifolia are excluded from the liverwort flora of China because vouchered specimens are assignable to other species. The illustrations of Porella densifolia var. densifolia and P. acutifolia var. acutifolia based on Chinese plants are provided. Porella longifolia is thus far known only from Sumatra, Indonesia.

Arctiinae are a species-rich subfamily of moth, with approximately 1,400 species in Brazil and 723 recorded in the Cerrado biome. A list of species of these moths was compiled during three years of sampling in four vegetation types within the Emas National Park. A total of 5,644 individuals belonging to 149 species were collected. About 67% of these species are new records for the Emas National Park, 31% for the State of Goiás and 9% for the Cerrado biome. Cerrado sensu stricto and semideciduous forests have higher species richness, followed by campo cerrado and campo sujo. The vegetation type with the highest number of exclusive species was the semideciduous forest, followed by cerrado sensu stricto, campo cerrado and campo sujo. The high species richness and the high proportion of new species records for Goiás and Cerrado reinforce the importance of the Emas National Park region as a center of diversity for this group of moths. The conservation of areas not yet cleared around the Park, including the creation of new protected areas, and the establishment of ecological corridors between these areas and the Park would be strategies to preserve the fauna of these moths.

Abstract—The tribe Crescentieae includes Amphitecna (21 species), Crescentia (six species), and Parmentiera (10 species), three genera of understory trees with a center of diversity in Central America and a small number of species in the Antilles and northern South America. Species in Crescentieae are united by their fleshy, indehiscent fruit and cauliflorous, bat-pollinated flowers. To lay a foundation for examining morphological, ecological, and biogeographic patterns within the tribe, we inferred the phylogeny for Crescentieae using both chloroplast (ndhF, trnL-F) and nuclear markers (PepC, ITS). The most recent circumscription of Crescentieae, containing Amphitecna, Crescentia, and Parmentiera is supported by our phylogenetic results. Likewise, the sister relationship between Crescentieae and the Antillean-endemic Spirotecoma is also corroborated by our findings. This relationship implies the evolution of fleshy and indehiscent fruits from dry and dehiscent ones, as well as the evolution of bat pollination from insect pollination. Fruits and seeds from species in Crescentieae are consumed by humans, ungulates, birds, and fish.

A new Mexican species of Spigelia (Loganiaceae), distributed in the states of Guerrero and Michoacán, is here described. The new species can be distinguished from the similar-looking S. humboldtiana by its corolla with innerly purple lobes, inserted stamens above the proximal half of the corolla tube and exserted style. With this contribution, Mexico reaches a total of 20 species, of which 50% are endemic, highlighting this country as a center of diversity for this genus. A dichotomous key for the species recorded in the states of Guerrero and Michoacán is included.

Cyrtandra Forster & Forster (1776: 5) is the largest genus in the family Gesneriaceae, with over 800 species distributed throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific (Atkins et al. 2013). Members of the genus are important understory elements in primary forests, with varying habits (Burtt 2001). The Philippines is considered a center of diversity for the genus, with approximately 105–150 spp. (Atkins et al. 2013, Johnson et al. 2017).

A taxonomic revision of Sabicea subgenus Anisophyllae (Rubiaceae), a group restricted to Central and East Africa, is presented here. This work, based on a study of herbarium specimens and field observations in Cameroon and Gabon, includes a survey of the morphological features of the group, a key to the species, descriptions of all the taxa, and IUCN conservation status assessments. Fifteen species are recognised, four of which are described as new (Sabicea mapiana, S. ndjoleensis, S. parmentierae, S. sciaphilantha), three former varieties are raised to species rank (S. crystallina, S. jacfelicis, S. tersifolia), and one species previously sunk into synonymy is restored (S. bequaertii). Two new infraspecific taxa are also described, Sabicea crystallina subsp. engongensis and S. sciaphilantha subsp. hirsuta. The group has its center of diversity in Gabon, where 10 of the 15 species occur, three of them being endemic to the country.

Isoetes is a widely distributed lycophyte genus of at least 200 species occurring in diverse habitats. The species can be difficult to identify because Isoetes, with its apparent simplicity of form and conserved morphology, provides few diagnostic features to reliably distinguish its species. The last worldwide monograph, published nearly a century ago, listed 77 taxa. The first step in producing a flora or monograph of all known species of a genus is to compile a list of the acceptable species names. The list presented here is a compilation of 192 accepted names representing taxa from regions around the world: chromosome numbers were assigned to 101 of them, with polyploidy settled on 46.7%. Distribution mapping of the accepted species indicates that South America is the center of diversity for Isoetes and species diversity is the highest in temperate regions. Many of the species on this list are rare and have limited ranges. The list of taxa can be used to initiate floristic studies and conservation efforts in keeping with the target goals of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation.

Macrolobium is a neotropical genus with approximately 80 species distributed from Central to South America. In Brazil, the upper Rio Negro basin in Amazonia is the center of diversity for the genus. A taxonomic study based on the type materials and additional specimens of M. campestre deposited in several herbaria was carried out. The results show that the taxonomic diversity at the infraspecific level has been overestimated. Thus this work proposes synonymizing Macrolobium campestre var. arirambense R.S. Cowan, M. campestre var. arboreum R.S. Cowan, M. campestre var. longibracteatum R.S. Cowan and M. campestre var. medium R.S. Cowan under Macrolobium campestre Huber.
