Abstract: The emergence of some diseases that often attack school-age children, it turns out generally related to Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (PHBS). Other schools function as a place of learning and can also be a threat of disease transmission if not managed properly. More than that, school age for children is also a vulnerable period of various diseases. Therefore, the planting of PHBS values in schools is an absolute necessity and can be done through an approach with the PMR (Youth Red Cross) which is assisted by the local PMI (Indonesian Red Cross. In the hope that PMR members can carry out the Promotion Efforts to realize Clean and Healthy Life Behavior in the school environment to realize a Healthy School. The specific target of this activity will involve 30 members of the Intermediate PMR in the PMI Area of Magelang City. This activity includes the provision of material related to the technique of washing hands properly and properly and maintaining personal hygiene, the dangers of cigarettes and drugs, HIV AIDS, and the use of healthy latrines. Implementation with simulations for the application of Clean and Healthy Behavior through campaigns and demonstrations.            Keywords: PHBS, PMR, school  Abstrak: Munculnya sebagian penyakit yang sering menyerang anak usia sekolah, ternyata umumnya berkaitan dengan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS).

Sport-related concussions (SRC) are an increasingly common concern in young athletes, with long-term cognitive, physiological, behavioral, and psychological adverse outcomes. An estimated 1.1 million to 1.9 million SRCs occur per year in children <18 years old in the United States. The post-concussive state has demonstrated consequences in several domains, including athletics and academics, although much more research has been conducted on the former. The objective of this scoping review was to ascertain findings from published studies on the effects of SRCs on academic performance and quality of life of young student athletes. A total of 175 articles were screened within the PubMed and CINAHL databases, along with a Google search. Fourteen papers fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in the review. Quantitative and qualitative data were collated and demonstrated the heterogeneity with which, post-concussion academic performance outcomes were measured; only 4 of the 14 studies utilized formal academic metrics such as changes in grade point average (GPA) or examination scores. While the results overall did show statistically significant implications on academic performance decline after SRC, it is clear that there remains a paucity of research determining the consequences of SRCs on academic performance in the school environment. Further research is needed to better understand how to implement accommodations in the student’s learning environment and guide return-to-learn protocols for student athletes following SRC.

This article presents a practical and collegial model of problem solving that is based upon the literature in supervision and cognitive learning theory. The model and the procedures it generates are applied directly to supervisory interactions in the public school environment. Specific principles of supervision and related recommendations for collaborative problem solving are discussed. Implications for public school supervision are addressed in terms of continued professional growth of both supervisees and supervisors, interdisciplinary team functioning, and renewal and retention of public school personnel.

Abstract Purpose: Federal regulations should be implemented to provide appropriate services for student-athletes who have sustained a concussion, which can result in impaired function in the academic setting. Eligibility guidelines for special education services do not specifically address the significant, but sometimes transient, impairments that can manifest after concussion, which occur in up to 10% of student-athletes. Method: We provide a definition of the word concussion and discuss the eligibility guidelines for traumatic brain injury and other health-impaired under IDEA, as is the use of Section 504. Results: The cognitive-linguistic and behavioral deficits that can occur after concussion can have a significant impact on academic function. We draw comparisons between the clinical presentation of concussion and the eligibility indicators in IDEA and Section 504. Conclusion: Speech-language pathologists are well-positioned to serve on concussion management teams in school settings, providing services including collection of baseline data, intervention and reassessment after a concussion has occurred, prevention education, and legislative advocacy. Until the cultural perception of concussion changes, with increased recognition of the potential consequences, student-athletes are at risk and appropriate implementation of the existing guidelines can assist in preservation of brain function, return to the classroom, and safe return to play.
