Numerical simulation and deposited experiment of MAG welding are carried out on the conditions of Electro-Magnetic Stirring (EMS) in this paper. Based on the research of EMS welding arc action, a simple EMS-MAG welding Gaussian distribution model using whole heat flux density is established, which MAG welding arc and droplet transfer are regarded as one integrated system. The important additional magnetic field parameter in EMS-MAG surfacing deposited welding is considered in this model. The computer-aided arc measurement system is used to analyze the effects of additional magnetic field in MAG welding. Effects of excitation current on welding penetration and width are analyzed by deposited experiments. Many deposited experiments are used to adjust model parameters and verify the simulation results. By defining key parameter and optimizing the model on the basis of experimental data, it can improve the simulation accuracy effectively. The results show that the established Gaussian distribution model can be used to simulate EMS-MAG welding process.

Semisolid A356 alloy was prepared by low superheat pouring and slightly electro- magnetic stirring(LSPSES). The fractal dimensions of primary phase morphology in semisolid A356 alloy were researched by the calculating program written to calculate the fractal dimensions of box-counting in the image of primary phase morphology in semisolid A356 alloy. The results indicated that the primary phase morphology in the alloy was characterized by fractal dimension, and the morphology obtained by the different processing parameters had the different fractal dimension. The morphology at the different position of ingot had the different fractal dimensions, which reflected the effect of solidified conditions at different position in the same ingot on the morphology in the alloy. Solidification of the alloy was a course of change in fractal dimension.

Defects of metallurgy-originated steel (sub-cored bubbles, impurities, macro- and micro-segregations of chemical elements, nonmetallic inclusions) to a large extent determines the faultiness of metal rolled products. The processes of chemical elements segregation in steel macro- and micro volumes considerably influence its quality. Reasons of microphysical dendrite segregation originating in steels of welding purpose of Св-09Г2С and Св-08ГНМ type considered. Mechanism of dendrites formation studied as well as the segregation degree of chemical elements along the continuously casted billet cross section. To estimate the segregation degree a criteria was used – the segregation coefficient, determined as relation of chemical elements mass shares in different micro-areas (dendrites, inter-dendrite gaps) of continuously casted billet cross section to those elements content by a ladle analysis of a heat or one another in different micro-areas. A heredity of segregation transfer from CC billet to finished wire rod of Св-08Г2С and Св-08ГНМ steels studied. It was determined, that decrease of the number of bainite-martensite areas as a result of decrease of dendrite segregation of chemical elements takes place by minimization within grade chemical composition of both main alloying element and impurities ones. Besides an additional alloying of steel by boron takes place based on boron to nitrogen relation at the level of B/N = 0,8±0,15. It was shown that to decrease the inter-dendrite segregation it is necessary to elaborate and implement effective steel modifying by calcium and REMs regimes as well as electro-magnetic stirring during continuous casting.

Mg2Si reinforced hypereutectic Al-Si composite was prepared and the effects of electro- magnetic stirring on Mg2Si particle in the composite were researched. The results indicated that there were the important effects of electromagnetic stirring on size and morphology of the particle in the composite. The morphology and size of the particle in the composite were obviously improved by electromagnetic stirring. In comparison with the sample without isothermal holding, the size of the particle isothermally held slightly increased under the same stirring condition, but the roundness of the particle was improved. After isothermal holding, the mechanical properties of the composite prepared by electromagnetic stirring were improved to some extent.

Production of semi-solid slurry with fine and uniform microstructures is one of the basic and key problems for the industrial application of semi-solid processing. The common disadvantages of existing techniques are as follows: continuous production difficulty, high process controlling requirement and low quality microstructure. In order to overcome those problems, the MSCP (Multielectromagnetic Stirring Continuous Preparation) process has been developed by GRINM. Experimental results show that annular chamber for feedstock production can improve the efficiency of electromagnetic stirring and reduce the difficulty of temperature grad control. Compared with single electromagnetic stirring, multi- electro magnetic stirring can achieve more uniform stirring. Strict temperature grad control in annular chamber is the key of continuous preparation of high quality semi-solid slurry. Semi-solid slurry of different solid fractions was obtained by MSCP.
