Conceptual understanding should have serious attention due to the low score of Physics subject on national examination in Palu. The difference between learning style and jigsaw strategy is able to combine abstract conceptualization and active experiment towards the conceptual understanding for students whose learning style is converger and diverger. The research design was quasi experiment. The sample is the eleventh class of Senior High School students in Palu that are chosen using cluster random sampling (multistage), that is, 167 students. The research instrument was Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory (KLSI) of conceptual understanding test on Physics (Tes Pemahaman Konsep Fisika or TPKF). The data was analyzed by using ANOVA, with the significant level is 5%. The result shows that: (1) cooperative learning strategy of jigsaw type has more benefits than direct learning strategy in conceptual understanding on Physics, (2) student group of which learning style was converger has higher conceptual understanding than that of which learning style was diverger, (3) there are interaction influence between learning strategy and learning style towards the conceptual understanding on Physics

This study examines the Android-based Learning Style Inventory (IGB) Application for High School Students in Bantaeng Regency. The main problem in this research is that students do not know the learning styles they have and in the school counseling teachers do not have special counseling hours in class . The development research model is the development model Borg and Gall modified by researchers. Research subjects are divided into expert subjects, namely material experts and media experts. The data collection technique was carried out by surveying through interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The data were analyzed by means of content analysis techniques on qualitative data and quantitative analysis techniques. The results of the development research were completed with two test stages, namely the expert test (expert validation) and the small group test, and one revision stage covering; revisions based on expert tests and revisions based on small group tests. revisions were carried out covering several aspects, namely aspects of material content, aspects of media content and applications, usability, feasibility and accuracy and usefulness of the IGB application for students. Based on the expert test material guidance and counseling, the media expert test and learning design and practitioner test get a research scale assessment that is in the very valid category. The learning style inventory (IGB) application in the acceptance test is in a very high category, the product is declared to be used and implemented. Thus, the Android-based Learning Style Inventory (IGB) application developed is said to be appropriate, accepted and can be used for high school students in Bantaeng Regency.

The objectives of this study were to profile the relationship of scientific attitude level and learning style preference among junior high school students in Bandung. This study utilized a survey research design with a total sample size of 110 students. A scientific attitude questionnaire and a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (VAK) learning style inventory were administered in this study. The questionnaire measures five aspects of scientific attitude, specifically rationality, curiosity, open-mindedness, aversion to superstition, and objectivity. The VAK learning style inventory evaluates the preferred means of receiving sensory information. The scientific attitude questionnaire provided consistent results, as indicated by its reliability coefficient (0.896). The results show that junior high school students have an average level of scientific attitude and generally prefer a kinesthetic learning style.  There was a medium relationship between scientific attitude and learning style among the students (Cramer’s V coefficient = 0.239).  It is concluded that learning style must be considered in implementing a science lesson, especially in the Indonesian context.

AbstractThe paper deals with a problematic of creating variant texts according to a sensory perception. An idea of transcribing text is based on a theory of adaptive learning, which is thoroughly studied at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies. Researchers in this work combined the adaptive approach together with thinking styles introduced by Libor Činka and created four variants of texts of the chosen topics. Then those texts undergone the verification by the students from high school and university, who read them and evaluated them as well as they answered to a prepared set of testing questions. All received data was compared against the replies from the learning style questionnaires VARK and questionnaire by Šimíčková. The paper discovered some differences between the results of VARK and Šimíčková questionnaire, which proved to be slightly more reliable compared to both the results of test questions and the students’ own opinion. There were also differences between sensory variants of texts. As expected, the kinesthetic variant proved to be the less effective compared to the rest. It seems that university students accepted the rewritten texts better than high school students too.

We investigated the influence that personality type has on perceptual learning style preference and language learning strategies. Participants were 364 senior high school students in Taiwan who were studying English as a foreign language. The instruments used to collect data were the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Myers & McCaulley, 1985), the Perceptual Learning Preferences Survey (adapted from Kinsella's 1995 survey), and the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (Oxford, 1990). Results showed significant relationships between language learning strategy and the introverted/extroverted personality type. Significant relationships were also found between the sensing/intuitive personality type and memory, compensation, social, and metacognitive strategies.
