The relationship between corporate social responsibility and vulnerability to stock market crashes and how this relationship is moderated by the norm of corporate governance was empirically explored in this research article. This study used a panel data analysis using a group of 58 companies selected during the years 2009-2018 from operating in various industries hawking their stock on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) to investigate this interaction effect. To quantify the company's share price probability of a crash, an inverse restrictive skewness (NCSKEW) of returns and bottom-to-up variance (DUVOL) spread has been used as a proxy. The results of this research suggest that the risk of a share price slump is adversely and significantly linked to CSR. Consistency structures of governance mechanisms (size of the board, percentage of autonomous directors on board, concentration of ownership, percentage of executive directors onboard) have a substantial moderating impact on the risk of a fall of the share price.

We have performed a focalized investigation to explore how corporate social responsibility (CSR) moderates the relationship between corporate governance and firms’ financial performance. We applied a panel regression to examine this relationship from a sample of 3400 Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) listed firms, based on yearly observations from 2009 to 2018. Our results show that the presence of female directors on the board is associated with improved firms’ performance and that corporate social responsibility (CSR) moderates this relation, thus indicating that sharing strategic decision-making with female board members revealed a better relationship between CSR and firms’ financial performance. Our findings showed that foreign institutional investors positively influenced firms’ financial performance and that CSR moderates the relation between foreign institutional shareholders and the firm’s financial performance. Supported by corporate governance theories, such as resource dependence and stakeholder theory, our results help to better understand the nexus among corporate governance, firms’ performance and corporate social responsibility. These findings are advantageous to government departments in emerging countries in terms of encouraging marketing practitioners and participants to implement CSR practices and change the attitude associated with CSR implications. This study highlighted the problems of the foreign institutional investors’ scheme, which was the main contribution to the financial market reform of China after 2003. These findings offer significant implications to corporate affairs executives and managers, practitioners, academicians, state officials, and policy-makers, and might provide China with the opportunity to extend its market liberalization to the global markets. This research also contributes to the existing literature, which investigates how CSR moderates the relationship between corporate governance and firms’ financial performance in the Chinese market context.

The correlation between theoretical and empirical of corporate governance (CG) and corporate financial performance (CFP) is not there without controversy. This paper aims to determine the moderating effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR), on the relationship between corporate governance and corporate financial performance. The sample of this research are banking companies that are listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange between the period of 2010-2014, taken by using purposive sampling method. Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) analysis was used in this study. The results of this study indicate that corporate governance affects the company's financial performance positively. Aspects of corporate governance such as audit committees and number of board meetings have a positive relationship with financial performance, but there is no relationship from the aspect of independent board of commissioners. Furthermore, CSR can only strengthen the positive relationship between the number of board of commissioners’ meetings and the financial performance of the company. The frequency intensity of board of commissioners’ meetings can increasingly address corporate governance reforms by improving and realizing social responsibility as part of sustainability innovation by optimizing media and CSR reporting methods.

In this paper, we investigate the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on risk taking in Indonesia. We hand collect CSR and other corporate governance data from 2016-2017 for publicly listed firms on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX). The results, based on 820 firm-year observations, suggest that CSR activity is negatively related to corporate’s risk. This means the presence of CSR activity is positively perceived by stakeholders. Therefore, it reduces operating and market risks of the company. Also, we test for endogeneity and the main findings remain similar.

However, a role for auditing in CSR and corporate governance has not been adequately discussed under new corporate view. This paper clarifies the relationship between CSR, corporate governance and auditing, and reexamines a role for auditing in CSR and corporate governance through the discussion of the relationship between corporations and society as recently brought up concerning CSR. This is necessary in order to think the view of how corporations and auditing should be toward rebuilding public trust
