Population growth and increasing trend towards urbanization have caused housing demand to exceed its supply, particularly in urban areas in developing countries. Furthermore, housing industry motivates many subsidiary industries and plays a leading socio-economic role in such countries. Therefore, successful completion of housing projects is of great significance quantitatively and qualitatively.This study aims to propose a framework to evaluate the critical success factors (CSFs) in housing projects considering the interrelationship among factors and criteria. The factors were initially identified through literature review and then refined and categorized using a two-round Delphi method and finally prioritized using fuzzy analytic network process (FANP). To demonstrate the implementation of the proposed model, a case study was carried out on an urban residential building project in Tehran. The framework proposed in this study can be applied as a decision support system for decision makers, project managers and practitioners involved in the housing sector.

The dynamic and uncertain demand forces organizations to provide flexible services in order to fulfill customer demands. Freight transportation, being the key component of the businesses, requires adoption of efficient Information and Communication Technologies which can induce transparent and flexible services. Blockchain Technology (BT) is an emerging technology which has great potential to cater solutions to freight transportation issues. This study identifies different critical success factors of BT adoption in freight transportation. An integrated Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) is applied to prioritize identified success factors. Further, modified Total Interpretive Structural Modeling (mTISM) is used to represent the interrelationship among different sub-factors. The findings of the study revealed Development Aspects, Customer Services and Technological Aspects as well as Data Transparency, Reliability and Organizational Culture as the most significant factors and sub-factors, respectively. The proposed model will guide freight transport managers to formulate their strategies regarding BT adoption.

Digital publishing technology (DPT) has been recognized as one of the most important technologies for economic development. The purpose of the study is to develop an evaluation model based on analytic network process (ANP) approach to explore the critical success factors (CSFs) for the successful implementation of DPT. It can objectively identify related criteria of DPT, and then prioritize improvement criteria to the success of promoting DPT for government. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach, the Taiwan’s DPT is conducted. The results of this study could serve as a new method and offer insights to policy makers to indentify and prioritize CSFs for DPT implementations systematically.

The Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan encountered service capacity bottlenecks for insufficient facilities before COV-19 break. In order to increase the service capacity efficiency on check-in, security checks, and customs clearance, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications R.O.C. (MOTC), Taiwan, rerouted the airport traffic flow by implementing the in-town check-in (ITCI) concept to decrease crowding in the airport waiting hall. This research examined the structure of critical success factors (CSFs) for ITCIs, deriving three hierarchies of three dimensions, eight criteria, and 18 evaluation indexes from the previous literature, expert interviews, and analysis results from Analytic Network Process (ANP) via Super Decisions software. The three CSF dimensions were: first-level hierarchy “advantageous environments,” followed by “marketing” and “service value,” which is a second-level hierarchy. The study concluded that the third level item of “transferred vehicles system and management” can play an important key role in ITCTs and “users’ usage preference” has a high correlation to ITCT management strategy. Those findings are expected to be a valuable reference as operating guidelines for Taoyuan Airport MRT Company and management strategy for airport companies.

Purpose Effective cost performance is a crucial criterion measuring successful project management in public-housing projects. This paper aims to analyse the vital underlying factors surrounding the successful cost management process (CMP) outcomes in public housing projects (PHPs). Design/methodology/approach The research was conducted in three stages. The first stage consisted of a detailed literature review to document success factors affecting cost performances and management. In stage two, brainstorming sessions were undertaken with construction experts knowledgeable in cost management practices and have been involved in PHPs. These sessions were used to refine those success factors for the PHPs settings and define their criticality with respect to the CMP stages using interpretive ranking process. In stage three, focus group sessions were performed to validate the interrelationships of the contextualised critical success factors. Findings The top three most critical factors for successful implementation and outcomes at all CMP stages in PHPs settings were found to relate to competencies, team qualities and collaborative practices of the project team. Early contractor involvement and effective construction planning and management also emerged relevant to the process. Practical implications Government project departments, project managers and construction organisations (consultants and contractors) need to commit and mandate continuous development of cost management competencies for all professionals engaged in PHPs. Channels supporting team integration and collaborative practices between design and construction teams are required to increase the likelihood of successful project cost management practice and outcomes in PHPs. Originality/value The research has developed a factor-process relationship model that can be used to improve and evaluate the efficacy of CMP implementation in PHP settings.

Shipping, which is one of the most important transport modes, plays a significant role in international trade, but unfortunately, it also contributes significantly to global emissions. The present study proposes a generic method for establishing a system of evaluation criteria for assessing the greenness of shipping. A system of evaluation criteria that consists of multiple influence factors has been established, and an Analytic Network Process has been used to determine the relative importance of the influential factors and to consider their interdependences and interactions. The results can help stakeholders draft strategic measures that enhance the greenness of the shipping activities.
