A proposed modern technique for determination the blood group typing by monitoring the agglutination of red blood cells using acousto-optical technique and digital camera. The method based on analysis the digital image of the agglutination process by MATLAB software. We present an overview of two acousto-optic sensing approaches; the first demonstrates the cuvette approach while the second is the microscope slide approach. The cuvette approach digital image analyzing depends on the green channel distribution of the original image and count the brighten pixels, while the microscope slide approach passes through series of algorithms started with grayscale filter and end with edge detection it counts the different color pixels. The experimental result shown that it is possible to enhance the determination of blood group typing by using acousto-optical technique in both cases of using isohemagglutinating sera as well as the crossmatch test in a short time and high efficiency compared with the traditional methods.

The objective of this study was to predict bodyweight and estimate body measurements of Limousin cattle using digital image analysis (DIA). Body measurements including body length, wither height, chest depth, and hip height of cattle were determined both manually (by measurements stick) and by using DIA. Body area was determined by using DIA. The images of Limousin cattle were taken while cattle were standing in a squeeze chute by a digital camera and analysed by image analysis software to obtain body measurements of each animal. While comparing the actual and predicted body measurements, the accuracy was determined as 98% for wither height, 97% for hip height, 94% for chest depth and 90.6% for body length. Regression analysis between body area and bodyweight yielded an equation with R2 of 61.5%. The regression equation, which included all body traits, resulted in an R2 value of 88.7%. The results indicated that DIA can be used for accurate prediction of body measurements and bodyweight of Limousin cattle.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a high efficiency technology to detect the cylindrical medium in the concretes material. The electromagnetic wave is incidental to double-rebar, and measures the reflection signal behaviors from energy zone. The results from the reflection signal of electromagnetic wave of the reinforcement concretes allow evaluating the radius of double-bar (1.6cm, 1cm). A physical model can effectively measure the radius of double-bar by the result of electromagnetic wave reflex behavior analysis. The results indicate that, this techology is capable of estimating the reinforcing double-bar radius to within 6%.

Digital camera which has the advantage of real-time image transferring and easily processing is more and more widely used in the packaging and printing industry with the rapid development of high-tech electronics industry. However, the color in digital camera is not accurate which affect the application. To minimize the color difference between the color in the digital camera and the real color, the color reproduction methods is developing. The field comparative experiment is carried out to compare the performance of color reproduction methods, such as polynomial regression algorithm in different color space, and color checker passport. The results show that fourth order polynomial regression color reproduction in XYZ color space has the best performance.

Nowadays images play a crucial role in different fields such as medicine, advertisement, education and entertainment. Describing images content and retrieving them are important fields in image processing. Automatic image annotation is a process which produces words from a digital image based on the content of this the image by using a computer. In this chapter, after an introduction to neighbor voting algorithm for image annotation, we discuss the applicability of color features and color spaces in automatic image annotation. We discuss the applicability of three color features (color histogram, color moment and color Autocorrelogram) and three color spaces (RGB, HSI and YCbCr) in image annotation. Experimental results, using Corel5k benchmark annotated images dataset, demonstrate that using different color spaces and color features helps to select the best color features and spaces in image annotation area.

Seam-Carving is widely used for content-aware image resizing. To cope with the digital image forgery caused by Seam-Carving, a new detecting algorithm based on Benford's law is presented. The algorithm utilize the probabilities of the first digits of quantized DCT coefficients from individual AC modes to detect Seam-Carving images. The experimental result shows that the performance of proposed method is better than that of the method based on traditional Markov features and other existing methods.

The treatment of fracturing fluid sewage of oilfield must be accomplished in short time and high efficiency, with no secondary pollution. No proven technique of oilfield could be used for reference. In this work, suitable electrodes are selected for the method of electrochemistry oxidation; the data of experiments has confirmed COD of sewage could be easily decreased.

AbstractThe Misell algorithm is one of the most widely used phase retrieval holography methods for large reflector antennas to measure surface deformation. However, it usually locks in a local minimum because it heads downhill from an initial estimation without any consideration whether it heads for a global minimum or not. The core problem of the Misell algorithm is to find an initial estimation near the global minimum to avoid local stagnation. To cope with the problem, we construct a hybrid Misell algorithm, named modified very fast simulated annealing (MVFSA)-Misell algorithm, to search for the global minimum with a high efficiency. The algorithm is based on the combination of the MVFSA algorithm and Misell algorithm. Firstly, the MVFSA is utilized to obtain a rough position near the global minimum in limited steps. Then, the Misell algorithm starts from the rough position to converge to the global minimum with high speed and accuracy. The convergence characteristic of the proposed algorithm was discussed in detail through digital simulation. Simulation results show that the algorithm can reach global minimum in a very short time. Unlike the traditional Misell algorithm, the hybrid algorithm is not influenced by initial phase estimation.
