Today’s modern civilization has resulted in the crucial role of technology in human life, including financial matter. Integrating Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study sheds some light on the determinants of Muslim millennials’ intention in performing zakat payment using Financial Technology (Fintech). An online questionnaire survey was conducted to gather the required data from a group of Indonesian Muslim millennials. Employing purposive sampling technique, the sample consisted of 200 respondents. The data were analyzed with the assistance of Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results demonstrated that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness positively and significantly affected the respondents’ attitudes. Moreover, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly affected the intention of using Fintech to perform zakat payment. The results further revealed that there was no direct influence between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on the respondents’ intention to use Fintech. However, it had an indirect effect by the mediation of attitude variable. As a theoretical implication, this study contributes to the literature enhancement in the discourse of TAM and TPB models in zakat context. Practically, it assists zakat management institutions recognize the Muslim millennial community and develop digital zakat payment platforms.

This study aims to validate a model of consumer acceptance for 3G use in China. It integrates the technology acceptance model (TAM) and satisfaction theory to examine plans to introduce third-generation mobile phones to second-generation mobile phone users. In addition, this study considers the effect of self-construal on the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, subjective norms, prior satisfaction with 2G/2.5G, and intention to use 3G. The empirical results of this study show that the technology acceptance model partially explains consumers intentions to adopt 3G technology. Although consumers perceive that 3G is easier to use, this does not directly influence them to use 3G. Prior satisfaction with their current model of phone does not influence consumers intention to use 3G. Moreover, self-construal has moderate effects on the relationship between perceived usefulness, subjective norms, and the intention to use 3G.

High tomato losses in the fruit supply chain can be prevented by use of improved or new technologies but these are not usually adopted where adoption behavior is barely known. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Technology Acceptance Model, this study analyses socio-psychological factors that influence the adoption behavior of traders on new postharvest handling technology, as exemplified by the use of lining material for improving tomato packaging in Tanzania. The study results conclude that the perceived behavioral control and subjective norm were the most important factors explaining respondents’ behavioral intention. Attitude, though found not to be a significant determining factor, was however significantly influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. As technology adoption is a prerequisite for structural transformation of developing economies, our results provide new insights in the field of behavioral acceptance research in the tomato production sector of relevant developing countries.

PurposeGuided by the theory of planned behavior and the technology acceptance model, the purpose of this study was to comprehensively examine the factors that affect consumers' intentions to continue to use food delivery apps by developing and testing a research model and examining the differences between consumers with different demographic characteristics or behavior changes during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.Design/methodology/approachAn online survey instrument was developed, and 316 valid responses were collected. A measurement model was developed and tested by using the structural equation modeling partial least squares (SEM-PLS) method.FindingsThe four basic constructs in the theory of planned behavior model (attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and trust) positively predicted consumers' intentions to continue to use food delivery apps. Predictors (including perceived innovativeness, hedonic and utilitarian motivations, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and food safety risk perception) of these four basic constructs were also identified and confirmed. Multigroup analyses were conducted, and differences were found between male and female consumers and those with different ordering frequencies during the COVID-19 pandemic.Originality/valueThis study expanded the application of the theory of planned behavior by examining consumers' intentions to continue using food delivery apps and improved the authors’ understanding of this theory. Further, the successful application of the technology acceptance model improved the authors’ understanding of consumers' attitudes and behavioral intentions related to food delivery app usage.

Digital money receives tremendous attention globally, from buyers to sellers, as an alternative form of payment. The passions on this technology enormous and infectious, therefore attracting more followers from large merchant to smaller one including the cooperative. School cooperative serves as a center of economic with a wide range of activities, such as mini market, canteen, to serve the needs of students, teachers, and people in the surrounding area. One of the programs launched by the Central Bank of Indonesia is a financial inclusion to increase the financial literacy of people living in the remote area. In this case, Islamic conventional boarding school cooperative can become influencers in most of the surrounding community to attract people’s interest to adopt the technology. The purpose of this inquiry is to find out factors influencing the adoption of mobile payment and user’s intention and decision to adopt m-payment. Authors proposed an innovative research model based on the theory of technology acceptance model with the innovation characteristics of the diffusion of innovations, perceived security and intention to recommend the technology. The research model has empirically tested at 205 employees Islamic boarding schools across four regions. The independent variables under study include perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived credibility, subjective norms, and trust while the dependent variables are mobile payment adoption and intention to recommend the technology. The study uses structural equation modeling as a tool for analysis. The result indicated that perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and subjective norms have a significant influence on the adoption of mobile payment. The study also confirmed the relevance of users’ intention to recommend mobile payment technology. Thus, future research needs to include social media campaigns and technology adoption studies. Personal consumption behavior has negative impacts on the environment, such as climate change and wasted resources. To eliminate the adverse effects, more manufacturers are producing environmentally friendly products and governments are encouraging residents to adopt energy-saving products. Among these products, energy-efficient appliances are designed to save energy in everyday life. In this research, we focused on examining the antecedents of consumers’ acceptance of energy-efficient appliances. A combined framework of the technology acceptance model and the theory of planned behavior was used. The research was empirically tested using an online survey of 280 consumers. The study indicates that perceived ease of use had a significant impact on perceived usefulness; moreover, it positively influenced consumers’ attitudes. Subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and attitude significantly affected consumers’ purchasing intention. However, perceived usefulness did not have direct significant effect on consumers’ purchasing intention. Furthermore, we conducted a comparative analysis to further analyze the effect of consumers’ awareness of the China Energy Label on their purchasing intentions. Finally, insights and suggestions are discussed.
