High tomato losses in the fruit supply chain can be prevented by use of improved or new technologies but these are not usually adopted where adoption behavior is barely known. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Technology Acceptance Model, this study analyses socio-psychological factors that influence the adoption behavior of traders on new postharvest handling technology, as exemplified by the use of lining material for improving tomato packaging in Tanzania. The study results conclude that the perceived behavioral control and subjective norm were the most important factors explaining respondents’ behavioral intention. Attitude, though found not to be a significant determining factor, was however significantly influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. As technology adoption is a prerequisite for structural transformation of developing economies, our results provide new insights in the field of behavioral acceptance research in the tomato production sector of relevant developing countries.

Today’s modern civilization has resulted in the crucial role of technology in human life, including financial matter. Integrating Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study sheds some light on the determinants of Muslim millennials’ intention in performing zakat payment using Financial Technology (Fintech). An online questionnaire survey was conducted to gather the required data from a group of Indonesian Muslim millennials. Employing purposive sampling technique, the sample consisted of 200 respondents. The data were analyzed with the assistance of Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results demonstrated that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness positively and significantly affected the respondents’ attitudes. Moreover, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly affected the intention of using Fintech to perform zakat payment. The results further revealed that there was no direct influence between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on the respondents’ intention to use Fintech. However, it had an indirect effect by the mediation of attitude variable. As a theoretical implication, this study contributes to the literature enhancement in the discourse of TAM and TPB models in zakat context. Personal consumption behavior has negative impacts on the environment, such as climate change and wasted resources. To eliminate the adverse effects, more manufacturers are producing environmentally friendly products and governments are encouraging residents to adopt energy-saving products. Among these products, energy-efficient appliances are designed to save energy in everyday life. In this research, we focused on examining the antecedents of consumers’ acceptance of energy-efficient appliances. A combined framework of the technology acceptance model and the theory of planned behavior was used. The research was empirically tested using an online survey of 280 consumers. The study indicates that perceived ease of use had a significant impact on perceived usefulness; moreover, it positively influenced consumers’ attitudes. Subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and attitude significantly affected consumers’ purchasing intention. However, perceived usefulness did not have direct significant effect on consumers’ purchasing intention. Furthermore, we conducted a comparative analysis to further analyze the effect of consumers’ awareness of the China Energy Label on their purchasing intentions. Finally, insights and suggestions are discussed.

Insight into the reasons why people adopt or reject technology is one of the most challenging issues in information technology research. This chapter draws on the Electronic Commerce Technology Acceptance (ECTA) framework, which is in turn based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and examines Jordanian government’s employees’ attitudes towards adoption and use of Electronic Mailing systems within their job. The chapter is aimed at providing an overview of the current state of use, adoption and implementation of electronic mailing innovation within organisations, specifically governmental institutions in developing countries like Jordan. More precisely, the author first quantify constructs relating to the current state of governmental institutions’ beliefs and attitudes toward E-Mailing systems technology in Jordan, and then develop and validate the relationships between the various factors that drive the adoption and acceptance of such innovation. A quantitative survey is used to establish and illustrates employee’s behavioural intention and decision to e-mailing systems. The main influencing issues discussed in this chapter that affect these employees imply perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, employees’ attitudes towards new technologies, and behavioural intentions to use. Whereas, these various issues are suggested in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the enhanced Technology Acceptance Model extends them to include the external social factors proposed in this chapter such as trust, cultural beliefs, and sociology of technology. Eventually, the significant insight emanated from the findings identifies ways of assisting and spurring employees to make use of technology more effectively.

Context Telemedicine is the delivery of medical care from a distance using technology. The integration of telemedicine as a supplement to musculoskeletal-based patient encounters may be feasible in sports medicine. Objective To investigate health care professionals' perceptions of and experiences with telemedicine. Design Cross-sectional explanatory sequential mixed-methods study. Patients or Other Participants A purposeful sample of 17 athletic trainers from a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I institution and 5 orthopaedic physicians from a sports medicine clinic located 92 miles from the campus. Intervention(s) Participants were trained on the telemedicine platform and used it over 5 months for initial, follow-up, and discharge patient encounters. Main Outcome Measure(s) Participants completed a preintervention survey containing the Theory of Planned Behavior and Technology Acceptance Model tool. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent-samples t test. After the intervention period, participants completed individual semistructured interviews that we coded using the consensual qualitative research tradition. Results From the interviews, the clinicians were characterized as telemedicine adopters (n = 14) or nonadopters (n = 8). The adopters reported higher levels of agreement on the Theory of Planned Behavior and Technology Acceptance Model tool as compared with nonadopters for all constructs. When comparing adoption status, we identified a difference (P < .01), with nonadopters reporting a low level of agreement for the subjective norm construct. The interviews revealed 5 domains: integration challenges, integration opportunities, collaborative practice, anticipatory socialization to future use, and benefits of integration. The participants indicated that integration challenges centered on “buy in,” whereas opportunities aligned with the patient's condition and technology ease of use. They reflected that the telemedicine encounters required more preparation and yet allowed for cooperative behaviors between clinicians. The benefits of telemedicine included convenience and scheduling preferences that encouraged future use. Conclusions The integration of telemedicine in sports medicine brought about both challenges and opportunities for collaboration among athletic trainers and physicians that were heavily predetermined by the social pressures of colleagues.

Libraries are being revolutionized by technological advancements which open up avenues to embed innovative library services. It is imperative for librarians to be in par with new technologies such as social network sites, to prove their worth in this competitive digital world. This study aims to explore factors affecting the acceptance of social network sites by university librarians by applying the technology acceptance model. The findings revealed that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were significant predictors of acceptance of social network sites. Trust was found to exert a significant indirect effect on the librarians’ intention to use social network sites. This study contributes to the theoretical novelty of the intersecting field of library science, social network sites and the technology acceptance model, which has received less attention in the literature. Also, this study attempts to fill the gap in the adoption literature, where librarians are rarely acknowledged as users, while supporting the validation of the technology acceptance model in a developing-country context. Overall, the proposed research model explained 58.4% ( R 2 = 0.584) of variance in the dependent variable of behavioural intention.
