Biogas can be an important alternative energy source for the sustainable development of the energy sector. To understand the performance of the family-size biodigester in Bangladesh, a household level survey on randomly selected 360 biodigester adopters was conducted. It is evident from the study that adoption of biodigester at the household level is economically and environmentally viable. Most of the biodigesters were constructed for single household and production of biogas was sufficient for cooking for single household. About 35% of biodigesters generated surplus gas from which they earned money by selling the surplus gas. About 91% of the biodigesters were feed with cow dung, one of the optimal biogases producing substrates, which has easy access in their own households. The factor analysis suggests that the most important factors to make biodigester economically viable are: capacity of biodigester, availability of substrates, amount of investment for biodigester, and economic benefits derived from biodigester.

Biomass briquettes have been made as an alternative energy source from cow dung waste. Molasses and starch were used as binder material with a carbonization temperature of 400 °C for 2 hours. The work aims to produce biomass briquettes with the best heating value based on analysis of composition effect and type of binder on the briquette with calorific value. The heat test results showed that briquettes with 10% sugar cane binding content produced the highest calorific value of 3907.5 calories/gram. Sugar cane drops become the better binder than starch in biomass briquettes production.

Energy harvesting through motion caused by wind is a unique way of finding an alternative energy source for several electronic devices. Piezo-electronic sensors, which harvest energy from small vibrations and movements, are investigated by many researchers nowadays. This paper conducted an experimental study to find an alternative energy source for diverse electronics with forced oscillations from a fan. The relations between the force applied by wind and the oscillation of a paper strip were studied.
