In the development of landscape design, plants have always been one of the important elements in the landscape design, and play a very important role in the landscape. In the selection and application of landscape plants, living plants have always occupied a dominant position, but the research and application of dead trees are few. People tend to think that dead plants are no longer valuable, and all dead trees should be removed or replaced. In a sense, this is a waste of resources, and also increases the cost of landscape. In fact, the proper use of dead trees in landscapes design is more likely to display the artistic conception and theme of the landscape. In many natural landscapes, large trees, ancient trees and precious tree die because of natural laws or natural disasters, forming withered trees. This kind of withered tree endows the site with certain historical connotation, which could narrate the history and ecological change of site to people and evoke the imagination of people to the past. In addition, these dead wood still have high economic, ornamental, ecological and cultural values. This study focused on dead trees and dying trees as its subject, analyzing the outstanding dead trees application cases in natural landscape, and discusses the different functions of dead tree, such as ecological function, ornamental function, cultural function and others. In addition, the Beijing Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park will serve as a special experimental site, dead tree will be designed and applied in the lake of park. And based on these data analyses, the final chapter will return to address the research questions and offer advice on how to apply dead tree to urban landscape and further enhance the value of dead trees in landscape design.

Modern landscape design is in a multi-culture era when many disciplines and many aspects are interwoven. Modern landscape is some kind of similar to traditional landscape design, but is also different to it in some aspect. Chinese traditional garden design is really profound, and its garden making ideology is more based on building the beauty of artistic conception to win praise. This paper takes global urbanization background as the starting point, and from the five perspectives of city, behavior, ecology, art and building, the paper try to explain the essence and culture connotation of traditional landscaping idea with real examples. This paper aims to conclude and summarize new craft and new technology, to inherit and promote traditional landscape characteristics, so that the traditional landscape could meet the need of urban landscape designing and developing.

In recent years, with the rapid development of VR technology, its application range gradually involves the field of urban landscape design. VR technology can simulate complex environments, breaking through the limitations of traditional environmental design on large amounts of information processing and rendering of renderings. It can display complex and abstract urban environmental design through visualization. With the support of high-speed information transmission in the 5G era, VR technology can simulate the overall urban landscape design by generating VR panoramas, and it can also bring the experiencer into an immersive and interactive virtual reality world through VR video Experience. Based on this, this article uses the 5G virtual reality method in the new media urban landscape design to conduct research, aiming to provide an urban landscape design method with strong authenticity, good user experience and vividness. This paper studies the urban landscape design method in the new media environment; in addition, how to realize the VR panorama in the 5G environment, and also explores the image design of each node in the city in detail; and uses the park design in the city As an example, the realization process of the entire virtual reality is described in detail. The research in this article shows that the new media urban landscape design method based on 5G virtual reality, specifically to the design of urban roads, water divisions, street landscapes, and people’s living environment, makes the realization of smart cities possible.

The urban square is the good object which to study the landscape design and human activities relationship, as the important landscape and the human activities places. The research take the summarized activity types and produced conditions as the foundation, using the behavior-place theory, discourse the present situation of the square landscape and obtains the assistant and the interactive relations between the human activities and the landscape design. As the lived role, human vitality and motility accomplish the beautiful scenery in city.

The landscape industry has become one of the industries with higher resource and energy consumption, and the implementation of urban low-carbon landscape construction is of great significance to improve the ecological environment. In this study, the method of low-carbon landscape construction was studied from two aspects including the carbon source control and carbon sink, as well as both direct and indirect effect. The results showed that the low-carbon landscape construction can be controlled from five aspects including landscape planning, landscape design, low-carbon landscape technology, low-carbon landscape behavior and low-carbon policy. Through a series of low-carbon measures, carbon emissions can be controlled at a reasonable level during the urban landscape construction, which also promotes the sustainable development of urban ecological environment.

In order to find a way to combine traditional culture with modern living needs, taking “Chinese painting” as the breakthrough point, through the study of the development process and artistic characteristics of Chinese painting, four aspects of classical philosophy, natural landscape image, brush and ink composition artistic conception, and abstract aesthetic conception contained in Chinese painting are summed up. The results of the study provide enlightenment for contemporary residential landscape design, and summarize the methods of creating Chinese paintings in residential landscape design. Thus, a residential landscape model with the characteristics of “Chinese painting” is found out.

The purpose of this study is to extract the indices of Aesthetic preferences for visual quality of urban landscape in high-rise buildings which contribute designers to make better decisions for designing urban landscape. As the research focuses on the high-rise buildings, this study goal address the question as follows: ‘What are aesthetic preferences in high-rise buildings? How can these preferences be developed and categorized?’ To achieve this objective, the Derak district of Shiraz city was selected as a case study area using Photo grid method and then all high-rise buildings in this area were identified and analyzed. Aesthetic preferences data were evaluated by Q-SORT method with the psychophysical approach. Eventually, aesthetic factors have been presented in two main categories: 'primary and distinctive'. Findings lead to the development of APPD model which suggests that when the landscape design of a building moves toward distinctive factors, the degree of its aesthetic preferences increases.
