Open Access (OA) journal collections can add diversity and breadth to a library’s theological resources.  I discussed my experience of creating a collection of over 800 OA religion journals in the OCLC Knowledge Base.   For OCLC member libraries, these titles may be added to their library catalog.  For other libraries, these titles are available through the Open Access Digital Theological Library.   We considered OA materials from majority world regions and languages such as Spanish and Korean.  The proceedings include a list of OA collections and a bibliography.  There was time for questions and sharing experiences.

AbstractThis paper offers a cross-country and cross-disciplinary analysis of the development of open access publishing from 2000 to 2019. Through an analysis of seven world regions and nine scholarly fields, we found that, while the overall share of open access journals has increased significantly over the last two decades, there are important differences across both the analyzed world regions and disciplines. We also found that, with the exception of neuroscience, the proportion of open access journals is considerably lower among the journals ranked in the Q1 quartile of Scopus than in the general field. We also offer a model that explains the development of open access publishing trends on different disciplinary and geographical levels.

The problem of organizing on library site a united interface to search all the resources library provides for its users is considered. It is demonstrated, that patrons of a modern library often have to use several interfaces to search for traditional print resources, for items of its own digital library and for a number of licensed resources on their own platforms. The problem of organizing on library site a united interface to search all the resources library provides for its users is considered. It is demonstrated, that patrons of a modern library often have to use several interfaces to search for traditional print resources, for items of its own digital library and for a number of licensed resources on their own platforms. The problem of including local publishers resources in global discovery index is stressed as well as inability to tune knowledge base on open access articles level in hybrid journals. The main conclusion is: Russian research libraries, which provide access to dozens of licensed resource collections of international and foreign content providers, should use global discovery services to fulfill their mission.

The various approaches that have been used to project trade-flows among nations and world regions are evaluated, particularly in the light of the knowledge base of regional science. A multimethod approach is developed to take into account the situations under which each existing approach has strength.
