A pairwise comparison of the clinical characteristics of patients with external genital endometriosis (EGE) stages I–III was carried out using Fisher's exact test. Patients with the most common (and newly diagnosed) stage II showed the greatest number of statistically significant correlations between clinical signs: dysmenorrheas with primary infertility (p = 0,0201), with localization of endometrioid heterotopias in the pouch of Douglas (p = 0,0214) and sacro-uterine ligaments (p = 0,0259); in addition, a relationship was found between the symptom of chronic pelvic pain and the presence of endometrioid heterotopias in the uterovesical space (p = 0,0071) and on the sacro-uterine ligaments (p = 0,0228). Along with this, they have a combination of foci of adenomyosis with multiple myoma of the uterine body was noted (p = 0,0000). In patients with stage III EGE, only one statistically significant (p = 0,0139) contingency of clinical signs was revealed — dyspareunia and heterotopias on the sacro-uterine ligaments.

Objective: despite endometriosis being a common disease, where early detection is key to preventing its progression, it is a condition often overlooked in adolescents. The aim of this study was to report the clinical characteristics of adolescent patients with endometriosis monitored in a tertiary hospital. Methods: a retrospective study of 394 patients undergoing surgery with a histological diagnosis of endometriosis at the Endometriosis Division of the Gynecology Department at the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo Medical School from 2008 to 2013. 21 adolescents were included (aged under 21 years). Results: the age ranged from 17.95 ± 1.48 years, the average time for diagnostic confirmation was 2.96 ± 2.93 years, and the age at the onset of symptoms was 15.28 ± 3.03 years on average. The sites affected were ovarian (38%), peritoneal (47.6%) and retrocervical (23.8%). Dysmenorrhea was found in 80.9 % of adolescents (severe in 33.3% of cases) and chronic pelvic pain in 66.6%. Conclusion: endometriosis in adolescents is an important differential diagnosis from pelvic pain and ovarian cysts, mainly among those with no response to conventional treatment. The main forms of involvement are peritoneal and ovarian. Despite the onset of symptoms in adolescence and advances in imaging methods, the diagnosis of this disease is still delayed.

Objective: To determine the prevalence and various aspects associated with female chronic pelvic pain. Methods: During the period of January to March 2016, a crosssectional study was conducted at the Women’s Health Clinic of Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia. Subjects were female who complained of pelvic pain for more than 6 months. We performed history taking, physical examination, and laboratory investigations including hs-CRP serum examination. We calculate the prevalence and describe the clinical characteristics and diagnosis of the patient. Quality of life and levels of hs-CRP were compared between the group of mild and severe pain. Results: In this study, the prevalence of CPP was 9.78%. We found 96.9% of gynecological disorders, 1% of urological disorders, and 2.1% of musculo-skeletal disorders. The most common diagnosis is endometriosis. The Clinical characteristics of patients were found 62.9% suffer for 6 months - 1 year with the intensity of pain (VAS) 7-10 as much as 51.5%. Levels of hs-CRP serum was around 1.99 (0.00 - 404, 53). We found a decreased in the quality of life of the patient. The physical domain score was 56 (38-81); the psychology domain score was 56 (31-100); the domain of social relationships was 59 (25-75); and the environmental domain score was 56 (31-94). Conclusion: Endometriosis is the most common diagnosis in female chronic pelvic pain of reproductive age. The pain causes a decreased in quality of life who suffer from it. Background: Endometriosis is considered as the chronic benign gynecologic disease which can cause chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and infertility. Endometriosis has affected almost 10% of the women of reproductive age. Methods: Thirty women diagnosed with endometriosis were studied. Pain intensity was assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS) and categorized as mild, moderate or severe accordingly. This was followed by laparoscopy/ laparotomy and staging of endometriosis which was done as per the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) classification system. Corrective procedures were done simultaneously. Results: Mean age of women with endometriosis was 30±5.75 years. Majority had superficial implants (30%), 6.66% had deep implants and 6.66% had combination of superficial and deep implants. There was no significant difference between implants and severity of pain (p=0.069). There was a significant association between severity of pain with obliteration of POD. Significant association was seen between deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) represented by the pouch of Douglas (POD) obliteration and severity of pain. Conclusions: Severity of pain was significantly associated with deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) represented by the pouch of Douglas (POD) obliteration. However, no association was obtained between severities of pain with superficial implants.
