Based on the granular computing and three-way decisions theory, the sequential three-way decisions (S3WD) model implements the idea of progressive computing. However, almost S3WD models are established based on labeled information system, and there is still a lack of S3WD model for processing unlabeled information system (UIS). In this paper, to solve the issue of given accepted number for UIS, a data-driven sequential three-way decisions (DDS3WD) model is proposed. Firstly, from the perspective of similarity computed by TOPSIS, a general three-way decisions model for UIS based on decision risk is presented and its shortcomings are analyzed. Then, a concept of optimal density difference is defined to establish the DDS3WD model for UIS by updating attributes. Finally, the related experiments show that DDS3WD is feasible and effective for dealing with UIS under the condition of given accepted number of objects.

In exploration geophysics the main and initial aim is to determine density of under-research goals which have certain density difference with the host rock. Therefore, we state a method in this paper to determine the density of bouguer plate, the so-called variogram method based on fractal geometry. This method is based on minimizing surface roughness of bouguer anomaly. The fractal dimension of surface has been used as surface roughness of bouguer anomaly. Using this method, the optimal density of Charak area insouth of Hormozgan province can be determined which is 2/7 g/cfor the under-research area. This determined density has been used to correct and investigate its results about the isostasy of the studied area and results well-coincided with the geology of the area and dug exploratory holes in the text area

This chapter outlines the technological evolution experimented by the Observatory for University Employability and Employment's information system to become a data-driven technological ecosystem. This observatory collects data from more than 50 Spanish universities and their graduate students (bachelor's degree, master's degree) with the goal of measuring the factors that lead to students' employability and employment. The goals pursued by the observatory need a strong technological support to gather, process, and disseminate the related data. The system that supports these tasks has evolved from a standard (traditional) information system to a data-driven ecosystem, which provides remarkable benefits covering the observatory's requirements. The benefits, the foundations, and the way the data-driven ecosystem is built will be described throughout the chapter, as well as how the information obtained is exploited in order to provide insights about the employment and employability variables.

PurposeThe marketing information system (MkIS) in the data-rich business environment receives all the attention these days, but as essential and perhaps even more essential is the marketing information system management capability (MkISMC). Although many service firms apprehend the return from MkIS, others clearly struggle. It seems that MkIS management capability dynamics and their direct/indirect holistic influence on service firm's competitive performance (SFCP) are unsolved in the current data-driven service economy. This study aims to conceptualize a model and test the antecedents on service firms' competitive performance.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilizes a survey of a sizeable sample of service firms’ managers at the firm level. A total of 250 useable responses were obtained and analyzed through structural equation modeling.FindingsResults reveal that variables under their respective direct influences are positively and significantly related. Interestingly, MkISMC has a relatively large magnitude of positive and direct effects on service firms' competitive performance. The other variables, such as the use of marketing analytics (UMAN), service innovation and management (SINM), partially mediate the effect of MkISMC on the competitive performance of service firms.Practical implicationsThe findings inform practitioners that MkISMC, UMAN and SINM play a vital role in attaining service firms' competitive performance in the data-rich environment. Overall, it deepens the understanding of the mediation effect of UMAN and SINM of service firms on competitive performance.Originality/valueThe study advances theoretical understanding of resource-based view (RBV), market orientation and dynamic capability that formulate the relationship of MkISMC, UMAN and SINM in attaining SFCP in the ever-changing data-driven business economy.

As a reaserch and development model, IFS is fast and efficient for MIS sysment. At first, we introduced the IFS models (information models, station models and function models) ,and it is proposed that the management information system (MIS) is build base on IFS models data-driven technologies and four tiers soft development technologies. Finally, we described abstract of the station models (user interface) and mechanism about the station models to the user interface.

The rough set philosophy is based on the concept that there is some information associated with each object of the universe. The set of all objects of the universe under consideration for particular discussion is considered as a universal set. So, there is a need to classify objects of the universe based on the indiscernibility relation (equivalence relation) among them. In the view of granular computing, rough set model is researched by single granulation. The granulation in general is carried out based on the equivalence relation defined over a universal set. It has been extended to multi-granular rough set model in which the set approximations are defined by using multiple equivalence relations on the universe simultaneously. But, in many real life scenarios, an information system establishes the relation with different universes. This gave the extension of multi-granulation rough set on single universal set to multi-granulation rough set on two universal sets. In this paper, we define multi-granulation rough set for two universal sets U and V. We study the algebraic properties that are interesting in the theory of multi-granular rough sets. This helps in describing and solving real life problems more accurately.
