State of the problem of solid waste disposal at landfills has been analyzed. A combined method of two stages of solid waste incineration during the heating season has been proposed. The results of calculations of thermal balances of evaporation processes, burning on a movable bottom and in a bubbled melt, heating of air in the recuperator, heating of water in the contact heat exchanger, boiler and in the hot water supply system has been presented. It is shown that the elimination of the source of pollution in the form of solid waste in a two-stage method of incineration: on a walking step and then in a bubbled melt — makes it possible to get rid of secondary solid waste generated by traditional incineration. As a result of melting in the bubbled melt gases are formed, which contain the products of combustion and decomposition of solid waste and slag consisting of silicates and metal oxides. Abstract The removal of solid household waste to landfills is the most commonly used method of solid waste disposal and an important source of environmental pollution. Physical, chemical and biochemical processes occur in the body of a solid waste dump, which overlap each other and form an artificial aquifer and biogas. This article provides a brief overview of the environmental problems associated with the practice of garbage disposal and the negative impact of the landfill on the environment. The data on the features of the functioning of the solid waste landfill in Kaluga, on the dynamics of waste generation and changes in their morphological composition are presented. The issues related to the economic problems of waste disposal are considered.

The article is devoted to the study of legal issues of the quarry recultivation using the municipal solid waste. In recent years, insufficient attention has been paid to this problem in the scientific literature that is related to the statutory ban on the quarry recultivation with the municipal solid waste, introduced in 2014. Meanwhile, the problem of increasing the areas disturbed by both the resource development and the waste disposal is becoming truly catastrophic. In order to determine the legal possibility of solving this issue, the study was performed in relation the legal aspects of the quarry recultivation and the municipal solid waste disposal. Based on the study, the author concludes that the solution to this problem is possible in two planes - by changing the applicable legislation or by implementing the quarry recultivation using the waste in two stages in accordance with the applicable legislation.

AbstractAn important problem faced by many societies across the world is unhealthy disposal of solid wastes. Knowledge, attitude, practices of people plays a crucial role as their view point is extremely vital in providing solutions to future environmental problems. A cross sectional study was conducted among the households of Kuttar and Manjanadi villages and a sample of 120 households were studied. Majority had a good knowledge about the ill effects of improper solid waste disposal and that 82.5% said collectively that it causes disease, unpleasant odour, unpleasant site and rodent nuisance. Majority of them had a positive attitude towards solid waste disposal and 98.3% felt that improper solid waste removal and disposal effects environment. Regarding household waste disposal practice it was found to be unsatisfactory as 78 households disposed of household wastes by just throwing away outside the house. Strict surveillance, supervision and timely removal for disposal of solid waste by management are the key factors in reducing environmental hazards.

The authors analyze the fire and explosion hazards of solid waste disposal facilities, taking into account current trends in the introduction of biogas (methane) collection and utilization systems. Methane is considered an alternative energy source for power plants. The authors determined the initial and limiting conditions of the mathematical apparatus of the method of combating fire and explosion hazards of solid waste disposal facilities based on the results of analysis and synthesis of factors of occurrence and spread of man-caused danger, existing mathematical models, and methods of counteracting man-caused danger. This is the basis for the further development of appropriate emergency response techniques. During the analysis, the authors found that humidity, the temperature of the landfill (household waste), the presence of sufficient oxygen at some point in time initiate the formation of explosive concentrations of methane in the array and contribute to the spread of hazards in landfills or dumps. The specific weight of the organic component, the value of the density of the array, the height of the landfill affect the process of counteracting the danger, namely the prevention of dangerous events and prevention of emergency from the object to the highest level of distribution (local level), primarily in the first group priorities, such as the number of victims and injured civilians and specialists of the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The team of authors has defined a system of equations of connection of the existence of the mathematical device taking into account initial and boundary conditions. A system of communication equations is determined taking into account the initial and boundary conditions of the mathematical apparatus, which allows to further develop a control algorithm for emergency response related to fire and explosion hazardous landfills close to settlements.
