Non-intrusive load monitoring has broad application prospects because of its low implementation cost and little interference to energy users, which has been highly expected in the industrial field recently due to the development of learning algorithms. Targeting at the investigation of practical and reliable load monitoring in field implementations, a non-intrusive load disaggregation approach based on an enhanced neural network learning algorithm is proposed in this article. The presented appliance monitoring approach establishes the neural network model following the supervised learning strategy at first and then utilizes the unsupervised learning based optimization to enhance the flexibility and adaptability for diverse scenarios, leading to the improvement of disaggregation performance. By verifications on the REDD public dataset, the proposed approach is demonstrated to be with good performance in non-intrusive load monitoring. In addition to the accuracy enhancement, the proposed approach is also with good scalability, which is efficient in recognizing the newly added appliance.

There are some learning problems for which a priori information, such as the Jacobian of mapping, is available in addition to input-output examples. This kind of information can be beneficial in neural network learning if it can be embedded into the network. This article is concerned with the method for learning the mapping and available Jacobian simultaneously. The basic idea is to minimize the cost function, which is composed of the mapping error and the Jacobian error. Prior to developing the Jacobian learning rule, we develop an explicit and general method for computing the Jacobian of the neural network using the parameters computed in error backpropagation. Then the Jacobian learning rule is derived. The method is simpler and more general than tangent propagation (Simard, Victorri, Le Cun, & Denker, 1992). Through hybridization of the error backpropagation and the Jacobian learning, the hybrid learning algorithm is presented. The method shows good performance in accelerating the learning speed and improving generalization. And through computer experiments, it is shown that using the Jacobian synthesized from noise-corrupted data can accelerate learning speed.

AbstractRecent years have seen the rapid development of autonomous driving systems, which are typically designed in a hierarchical architecture or an end-to-end architecture. The hierarchical architecture is always complicated and hard to design, while the end-to-end architecture is more promising due to its simple structure. This paper puts forward an end-to-end autonomous driving method through a deep reinforcement learning algorithm Dueling Double Deep Q-Network, making it possible for the vehicle to learn end-to-end driving by itself. This paper firstly proposes an architecture for the end-to-end lane-keeping task. Unlike the traditional image-only state space, the presented state space is composed of both camera images and vehicle motion information. Then corresponding dueling neural network structure is introduced, which reduces the variance and improves sampling efficiency. Thirdly, the proposed method is applied to The Open Racing Car Simulator (TORCS) to demonstrate its great performance, where it surpasses human drivers. Finally, the saliency map of the neural network is visualized, which indicates the trained network drives by observing the lane lines. Abstract Cerebellar model articulation controller (CMAC) is a useful neural network learning technique. It was developed two decades ago but yet lacks an adequate learning algorithm, especially when it is used in a hybrid- type controller. This work is intended to introduce a simulation study for examining the performance of a hybrid-type control system based on the conventional learning algorithm of CMAC neural network. This study showed that the control system is unstable. Then a new adaptive learning algorithm of a CMAC based hybrid- type controller is proposed. The main features of the proposed learning algorithm, as well as the effects of the newly introduced parameters of this algorithm have been studied extensively via simulation case studies. The simulation results showed that the proposed learning algorithm is a robust in stabilizing the control system. Also, this proposed learning algorithm preserved all the known advantages of the CMAC neural network. Part II of this work is dedicated to validate the effectiveness of the proposed CMAC learning algorithm experimentally.

In this study we apply back propagation Neural Network models to predict the daily Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index. The learning algorithm and gradient search technique are constructed in the models. We evaluate the prediction models and conclude that the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index is predictable in the short term. Empirical study shows that the Neural Network models is successfully applied to predict the daily highest, lowest, and closing value of the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index, but it can not predict the return rate of the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index in short terms.

Intelligent procedure expert system was developed to select appropriate GTAW procedure in this paper. First, the function design and implementation methods of the welding procedure expert system were introduced. The expert system can present the welding procedure card, multimedia display of welding process, and output function to makes the data sharing more convenient. Then, the database design of the welding procedure expert system based on C/S mode was presented where the expert knowledge was stored. At last, the neural network model was established to realize procedure selection based on the neural network learning ability and the welding case from the database. With the BPNN model, the welding parameters can be obtained based on the input welding conditions.
