Modelling methods for the transient temperature field of wear land on the flank of end mills have been proposed to address the challenges of inaccurate prediction in the temperature field of end mills during the high-speed peripheral milling of Ti6Al4V that is a titanium alloy. A transient temperature rise model of wear land on the flank of end mills was constructed under the influence of heat sources in the primary shearing zone (PSZ), rake-chip zone (RCZ), flank-workpiece zone (FWZ), and dissipating heat source. Then the transient temperature field model of wear land on the flank of end mills was constructed. Finally, the transient temperature field model of wear land on the flank of end mills was constructed. Comparison of simulation result and experimental data verified the accuracy of the model. In sum, the proposed model may provide a temperature model support for future studies of flank wear rate in end mill modeling.

In order to reveal the breakage mechanism of flat end mill under periodic thermal shock, transient temperature field model of chisel edge were established by heat source method, transient temperature field model of side edge were established along the sliced differential elements from the bottom of the flute toward the final axial depth of cut by means of line heat source. The simulation results show that transient temperature field prediction model can be used for prediction transient temperature field in high speeding.

The latent heat’s releasing has effect on temperature dropping.. For example of 40Cr bar, using ANSYS finite element establish transient temperature field model in air cooling condition, and using Thermal compensation calculate latent heat can simulate cross-sectional temperature field in air cooling, obtain the temperature variation with time, this founds base for the quantitative description of the microstructure and properties of rolled steel.

Aimed at the process of laser rapid prototyping with inner coaxial powder feeding, the finite element model on the transient temperature field of the molten pool is built and the transient temperature field of the molten pool under the laser with variable duty ratio is simulated numerically. The results show that the duty ratio of the laser affects the shape, dimension and power distribution of the molten pool. With the processing parameters: laser power (P)=3000W, outer diameter(d2)=4mm, scanning speed(V=5mm/s), the ideal value of ratio duty(K) is from 0.35 to 0.6. The shape of the molten pool is saddle shape or crescent. The position of the molten pool falls behind the center of the laser beam with the deviation to the both sides. Through shooting the molten pool with the high speed CCD camera, we find the experiments show that the images are close to the numerical simulation nephograms and then demonstrate that the numerical simulations are right.

The design of racing brake disc is one of the keys of the car braking system. The initial design of brake disc is based on the overall parameters and design requirements of South China University of Technology FSAE racing car. According to the mechanism of friction heat and friction heat distribution, a simple finite element model of temperature field model, boundary conditions and, using Algor to do a simulation of transient temperature field plate, the front and rear brake discs to determine the final size is analyzed.
