With fairness consideration, optimal linear precoding designs for multi-color, multi-user visible light communication (VLC) systems are presented in this paper. Utilizing both the spatial and multi-color resources, the precoding designs are proposed to mitigate the impact of the multi-user interference (MUI) and the multi-color crosstalk. With the constraints of chromaticity, luminance, and signal range, the precoding designs are formulated to achieve the max-min fairness and the maximum sum-rate. Since the closed-form expression for the capacities is not available, the lower and upper bounds are chosen as the performance criterions. To make the optimization problems be easy to be solved by using standard optimization packages, the non-convex problems are cast into convex ones. Subsequently, algorithms are developed to find optimal solutions. Extensive simulation results indicate that the proposed precoding schemes outperform the conventional pseudo inverse method.

Visible light communication technology is a emerging wireless and optical communication technology developed after invention and application of white LED.In this paper, we have a research based on indoor visible light communication system of lighting white LED,discuss of the visible light communication channel characteristics, detailedly analysis of the indoor visible light communication link. This paper focuses on the modulation and demodulation method applied to visible light communication. In the past visible light communication is mainly used off keying modulation, however, the data transfer speed is limited due to the influence of ISI .This paper presents a solution based on OFDM modulation and demodulation, to reduce the impact brought from inter-symbol string under high data transfer speed.Based on data analysis and computer simulation, the program presented in this paper can be used as indoor lighting and high-speed data transmission. Finally, give scheme to achieve visible light communication modulation and demodulation, provide a theoretical basis for further experiments.

AbstractHigh-speed visible light communication (VLC), as a cutting-edge supplementary solution in 6G to traditional radio-frequency communication, is expected to address the tension between continuously increased demand of capacity and currently limited supply of radio-frequency spectrum resource. The main driver behind the high-speed VLC is the presence of light emitting diode (LED) which not only offers energy-efficient lighting, but also provides a cost-efficient alternative to the VLC transmitter with superior modulation potential. Particularly, the InGaN/GaN LED grown on Si substrate is a promising VLC transmitter to simultaneously realize effective communication and illumination by virtue of beyond 10-Gbps communication capacity and Watt-level output optical power. In previous parameter optimization of Si-substrate LED, the superlattice interlayer (SL), especially its period number, is reported to be the key factor to improve the lighting performance by enhancing the wall-plug efficiency, but few efforts were made to investigate the influence of SLs on VLC performance. Therefore, to optimize the VLC performance of Si-substrate LEDs, we for the first time investigated the impact of the SL period number on VLC system through experiments and theoretical derivation. The results show that more SL period number is related to higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) via improving the wall-plug efficiency. In addition, by using Levin-Campello bit and power loading technology, we achieved a record-breaking data rate of 3.37 Gbps over 1.2-m free-space VLC link under given optimal SL period number, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the highest data rate for a Si-substrate LED-based VLC system.

<div>In this paper, single-input single-output (SISO) visible light communication (VLC) subject to signal-dependent shot noise (SDSN) is investigated. We discuss both channel estimation and data transmission. In the former, we introduce least square (LS) and maximum likelihood (ML) estimators. Moreover, we derive the Cram´er–Rao lower bound (CRLB) of the channel estimation error. With regard to data transmission, we present optimal and sub-optimal receiver designs and discuss their bit error rate (BER) performance. In particular, a closed-form expression of the BER is derived for a sub-optimal receiver using the on-off-keying (OOK) modulation technique. An approximated expression is then derived for the optimal receiver. Our analysis shows that the CRLB performance does not have a linear relation with the SDSN, thermal noise, or the fading channel. On the other hand, the SDSN has a dramatic effect on the channel estimation error bound, and it can degrade the BER performance. Increased performance degradation can also be noticed due to the joint effects of the channel estimation error and SDSN.</div>
