-Etymologically, supervision comes from the word super and vision, which means to see and review from above or view and assess from above, which is carried out by superiors on the activities, creativity and performance of subordinates. In terms of terms, in Carter's Good Dictionary Education, supervision is all the efforts of school officials in leading teachers and other education personnel to improve teaching. These include stimulating, selecting the growth and development of teachers' positions, selecting and revising educational goals, teaching materials and teaching methods, and evaluating teaching. In the book Basic Concepts and Educational Supervision Techniques citing information from the Dictionary of Education Good Carter explains the notion of supervision, namely the efforts of school officials in leading teachers and other officials in improving teaching, including stimulating, selecting growth in positions and development teachers and revise educational goals, teaching materials and teaching methods and evaluations. In contrast to McNerney's explanation quoted by the book Basic Concepts & Educational Supervision Techniques, which sees that supervision as a procedure gives direction and critically evaluates the teaching process. So that supervision can be formulated is none other than an effort to provide service to teachers both individually and in groups in an effort to improve teaching. The key word from the supervisor is ultimately to provide service and assistance.

Maths attainment is essential for a wide range of outcomes relating to further education, careers, health and the wider economy. Research suggests a significant proportion of adults and adolescents are underachieving in maths within the UK, making this a key area for research. This study investigates the role of children's perceptions of the school climate (children's affect towards school and student–teacher relationships), their attitudes towards maths and teacher characteristics as predictors of maths attainment trajectories, taking the transition from primary to secondary education into consideration. Two growth models were fit using secondary data analysis of the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC). The first model, which looked at predictors of maths attainment in primary education, found significant associations only between positive maths attitudes and increased maths attainment. The second model, which looked at predictors of maths attainment in secondary education, found significant associations between increased maths attainment and positive maths attitudes, decreased school belonging, positive student–teacher relationships and increased teacher fairness. The findings suggest that the secondary education school environment is particularly important for maths attainment.
